Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Leave that place, now!

I left Mattel a year ago after more than several years, got a severance deal ahead of the layoffs and never looked back. One of the best decisions I've ever made. Total garbage company full of empty suits, greedheads, corporate drones. From what I've heard since leaving it's gotten worse. Let me tell you, once you're outside you will realize how backwards, outmoded and just stupid Mattel is. The world has moved on since 1965. Oh, and one more thing, never trust anyone there in HR or at the director level or above. Get out now! Live your lives!

Left in 2008, the writing was on the wall then and it's not going to get better. Every quarter we had a management meeting where we had to rank every employee in the department. You knew you were signing a death warrant for anyone at the bottom. What a joy we

Hen I went to work for a company that cared about people and didn't treat them like easily replaceable bodies.

Moved into another industry - smaller company, more autonomy. The only thing that I thought I would miss, "Half-day Fridays", I don't, because I now actually like going to work. Look around, the job market is a LOT better than it was a couple of years ago. There's plenty of opportunities out there - go out and grab them!

I left on my own almost 2 years ago. Didn't wait to be laid off and humiliated. I saw the trajectory of the company after Stockton took hold and made the decision to leave. While i was there, made it through 7 layoffs. BEST decision of my life to leave.

I am finally ALIVE again and don't live in total fear that "todays the day".

My advice : GET OUT OF THE TOY INDUSTRY. Period. It's dying. I'm now working for a Housewares company and could never be happier!

Good luck all! But seriously you don't need luck - just make your moves to leave - start TODAY.

Update your resume, get active on LinkedIn, Update and/or start your portfolio. Just get movin'!

I'm curious; where did you go? Another company? or did you start you own thing? I am new to Mattel. But seriously, it hasn't proven to be a good company so far.
