Any word of what is happening in Canada! I heard that everyone has to take a day off without pay every couple of weeks. Who has to do this?

You're all acting like layoffs have stopped briefly in Canada. They've been happening steadily every day since the beginning of february. They're definitely not done with shop closures either.
More cuts to come next month I just heard through the grapevine here.
Its all Canada and accross the board, managers, shophands, etc.
We also just lost a lot of people in a second round in cuts just last week.
The next quarter will probably be worse since this is the largest rig utilizaton decline in the last decade. I say if they can get buy without your position you wont have it come the summer so be prepared.
I agree. I would rather see a smaller pay check for a while than not having one at all. Better than them cutting my wage. I don't really want to start over at another job if i can keep this one.
