Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Missing the Chatter

Where's the chatter, seems like it has slowed down, are the layoffs over or is everyone getting tired of the repetition? I, for one, have enjoyed all the comments, I don't feel so alone in the unemployed world. Never been laid off before, always a hard, dependable worker, guess that doesn't cut it anymore. I miss a lot of the people I have worked with the past several years. I've always been a survivor so the only thing I worry about now is the price of Weatherford Stock, I really hope it goes up soon so I can sell out, just like they did me. Wishing everyone well.

There are leads and supervisors and manages that are stll here that have good friends thare were laid off. And they worried because of what's to come. They are canarys in a cage. They can't quit either..they lose if they do. So knowing the truth is hard. No choice but to stand around and watch it happen.

It's not all a secret. Look around you. I don't care how hard management tries to hide what's going on, one one is going to talk to someone and that someone is going to talk to someone else. It's gonna happen. We all will be outta here soon. Guaranteed.

What do you mean Anonymous 75634 by "wait until Tuesday, we will promptly go to 5000 views per page"?

You have current employees at Huntsville that are telling other employees that Huntsville will be shut down and machines will be shipped out. I know a leadman that was telling other employees that Huntsville was going to be shut down. Leads and other people up the ladder should not be telling employees this.

Anonymous76846 what exactly are they shipping out? I'm still employed here and nothing has been "shipped out".

I agree.. I honestly believe this go around of layoffs at our facility were the ones that people that tried to help the company. Those that had an opinion were the ones let go. Well a lot of them anyway. I don't believe the Huntsville facility will be open much longer. There is talk that they are shipping stuff out left and right to other facilities. Well I for one am glad I'm not there walking that green mile. It's gotta be rough for those good few that are left. I do miss some of the people I worked with. But on the other hand.. maybe something is out there that's better for my well being.. nerves and all.

There is no justice, I was laid off by a new director not even there a year. He was trying to keep a sinking project and his job afloat. My mistake was being honest and advising again starting the project with the vendor they selected. After losing a few million, they let me go and kept the new director and the dysfunctional vendor. For being honest and trying to do what was best for the company, I get the boot. No wonder the company is failing.

Welcome to the former WFT employee association. Just like you guys, I had a lot of friends. Many of them are gone now. WFT could care less about hard working people trying to make a difference and trying to do things right. When you piss off a regional manager because you are doing your job and reflects and some of his branch plants end of not looking so good, you end up getting the boot, as soon as layoff's start. Work in the corporate world just being a number is over for me. I just want to see justice come to those who abuse their jobs and positions, and hurt others. I honestly don't think WFT will survive under the current leadership. I hope that the good people remaining can find other work. Good luck to you good people.

I suspect it's down to the repetition. I have been laid off once before Weatherford, but the Weatherford experience was worse. As you say, being a hard worker doesn't cut it any more - don't know what does. I'm still bitter but it's changed my outlook on what I want to do and get out of the corporate world and do my own thing. I do think things happen for a reason, so screw 'em :)
