There is not a lot of inventory in Huntsville. I also was told they will close both locations in Huntsville. Prototype can be moved anywhere. Assembly can be done overseas or anywhere else also. Huntsville assembly is standing around not doing much now. Huntsville was doing a lot for Houma and that has been cut drastically.

Okay so they get rid if machines. What about inventory in warehouse, assembly, prototype, threadlune? What's going on with that seeing you know more about what's going in than the rest of us.

most of the machines are slated to be moved to Abu Dhabi to beef up their production lines there. The remaining machines are to be sent to Brazil and others trucked to shops in Mexico. VAM can be done anywhere in the world with certified operators. VAM operators can be hired after the machines are set up and operational. Prepare yourselves because the ships are anchored just outside the Houston Ship Channel now waiting to be offloaded.

There are 2 facilities in Huntsville. If they were talking of closing one.. it would make since to close the much smaller one. Bring the employees, inventory and machines to the larger one.

Even Though a portion of this post sounds completely feasible parts do not. Yes brazil can make parts for fraction of a cost as can some outside completion since we have so much work sent out to other shops and the pipe yard seems to be a waste of money. However Huntsville does have many VAM license and is one of the few places in the states that can cut Vam. In fact what seems to be keeping us above water for the time being are the VAM threads that we are currently cutting. There will be a large layoff in our very near future. Most employees stipulate that this will happen the first Monday in March with more to follow the next month as well. Management is trying to save every penny possible so these layoffs are unavoidable.

I agree with some of that but not all of it - truth will be shortly if they have a massive layoff

Huntsville does have several VAM licenses and it is proving to be one of the only busy areas

This has been in the works for some time now. Huntsville has always had a problem competing with the mfg. plant in Brazil. Brazil could mfg. parts at half the cost and furnish much better delivery dates. To top it off the WFT liner hanger business in the U.S. has been on the decline for some time now.

The millions spent on building the pipe plant at Huntsville never panned out. Houston thought they had a deal wrapped up to too cut VAM threads on pipe at Huntsville. VAM never gave them a license. Way to much overhead and almost as many people with the title of manager, as there are actual workers. Very sad for the many good people at Huntsville. This will have an impact on the Huntsville economy for sure.
