Don't get your hopes up that they are going to be successful in getting their massive debts "forgiven" (ie paid off by the rest of us). You want an America that most of us will not let happen. It's not the 99% against the 1%, no matter how much you keep repeating that to yourself. You're just going to get more and more frustrated when you realize that even a lot of us well-educated 30-somethings have no intention of supporting those who have no intention of being productive and accountable for their own choices. We don't consider them to be victims. We consider them to be predators. We're not crazy, redneck, Southern tea-partiers. We're smart, conscientious Americans who have been paying attention, and we've about had it with the victim culture.

720 - Think you mixed some shit up there buddy - I'm simply laughing at you losers thinking you're going to get multiple billions out of these students and defending a predatory institution that failed. Pull your head out of your ass man, there are no jobs out there to get for most people. The whole damn system is imploding and retards like you guys are cheering on the wrong team.
Anonymous71706: God, I wish I didn't live so far away from you -- you're truly a ray of sunshine, aren't you? Well, good luck to you. I'll agree that your job search will be tough. Not because there are no jobs, since there are more and more available every day and actually a severe skilled labor shortage. It's just that every other person will be getting a job before you. You might want to find a real cheap source of vodka and hunker down. Sorry about your stock options (WTH?)...
695 - Who said I went here, just think it is hilarious how out of touch so many greedy ftards are who think jobs are just out there on trees waiting for someone to show up. It is you, not me who doesn't understand math. It is you, not me who is losing their job and stock options because of greed. Only the worst kind of callous retard (hey if the shoe fits) would think trying to make single moms earning $20,000 a year pay back every cent they get for the rest of their lives is fair, for a degree that was toilet paper and did nothing but ruin their life. Seriously, go f yourself buddy and preferably without any lube.
654 -- If I interviewed someone with your attitude I'd be chomping at the bit to hire them! Who wouldn't want a disgruntled sad sack cursing, laughing maniacally and calling everyone he/she saw a "retard"?
Anonymous71654: I know you're just going to say that all of the experts and media must be lying and/or wrong because why else would a gem like YOU still be unemployed? But here goes anyway: http://time.com/money/3632517/heres-what-to-expect-from-the-job-market-in-2015/ (there are plenty more articles like that lately)
Anonymous71654: And I would say to you -- please keep the stream-of-consciousness rants flowing! Why so angry? Actually, I don't really care. You're demonstrating that your not having a job is supply and demand in the labor market working as it should. Now what do I need to do to set you off again so you'll keep proving my point? And please, please go right ahead and defiantly let your loans go into default. All that does is assure me that I won't have to ever be served by your sour mug.
"LaTonya - if you're reading this, go get a job and stop whining!" -- Hahahaha F you, you dumb piece of shit. Jobs don't exist even for ivy league graduates but you think this woman should go out and just 'get a job'. Go f yourself with a bat you dumb retard, seriously. Actually don't, the more retards like you spout dumb tone deaf things like this the better the chances of them prevailing.
They will win, simply because republican greed and outsourcing guaranteed they will never find the jobs and pay to ever pay back even a fraction of the debt. This isn't even just a corinthian problem, it is a problem with all for-profits and even state schools. The jobs simply don't exist, and our 'leaders' didn't give a shit 20 years ago as the problem became more and more obvious. All the younger people in the country played musical chairs with school and debt simply to try to survive, but the biggest problem is there are no good paying jobs in this country anymore, and because of that the bulk of the student debt will simply never get paid back regardless of what they try to force.

Camden Kid: Seriously, you need to go away! You come on here and post the same things over and over, when we all know you've never worked for CCI or any career college. You've never worked in education at all, except for a few adjunct psych jobs at community colleges. Why in the world do you think we want to listen to you ramble on about how you imagine business works? God, just please, please, PLEASE get yourself dressed today and go find a job.
@Anonymous71330, your attitude is the same reason why Corinthian Colleges failed--and why EDMC, ESI, and perhaps several other for-profit colleges will also fail in due time. These companies placed all the responsibility on those it exploited. They also used classic "techniques of neutralization" that criminals use to rationalize their behavior. Finally, they didn't listen to workers (like Laurie McConnell) who had some sense of ethics and who hoped to correct things.
@Anonymous71322...worthless to defend them. The ECMC predatory debt collection practices are moot. Why? Because they collect the debt after it is incurred. Of course they are going to go after you to get the money, that's their job. The special kids "Corinthian 15" have federal loans; they will have to repay them regardless.
I see the stupidity is bleeding to a lot of different places. I am sick about people whining they got duped and now have to pay the consequences. You were stupid enough to fall for the ad on TV. Now pay the piper for your stupidity and don't make the same mistake, although you probably will.
322: I'm also Socle. As soon as we switched over and KD and DS were still in charge, we knew it wasn't going to get better. I was also surprised at just how blatant they've become about ignoring regs, though. It sounds like ECMC has said "do whatever you want, as long as money's coming in we don't care how." At least CCI pretended that they wanted the regs followed. Well, at least sometimes they pretended...
I'll defend the Corinthian 15. Not because I think they are somehow special and shouldn't have to pay back their debts, which we all know they will have to pay in the end anyway. It's because they might, with their fairly well designed website, actually get some hits and spread the word on some things that the American public really need to know about. Such as ECMC's crazy debt collection practices, and that ED has approved them to buy the most unethical, troubled for profit career college chain in history. There's some socialist nonsense (why should anyone have to pay back loans? everything should be free in America!), and that's going to hurt their credibility. Still, if it gets some real press attention (not the silly blogs that it's been on so far) it could be educational to the public. It could even lead to greater scrutiny of ECMC/Zenith to stop this train wreck before it gets any worse. And who thought that going from CCi to ECMC would mean MORE lying to prospects, MORE pressure to not let students drop, MORE urgency in getting financial aid in quick and by any means, MORE unreasonable demands on placement? It's just crazy!
285: Camden Kid has got to be part of this idiocy. It bears all the marks of his crazy-ass socialist mindset, and he must be doing SOMETHING with his time. He hasn't been here as much, and it's not like he has a job.
You can read about the "Corinthian 15" here: https://debtcollective.org/studentstrike (note that there's a common theme that they keep saying over and over -- "Americans should have unlimited free education!" -- uh, yeah, THAT'S going to be a successful tactic)
Everest responds in a press release to the Corinthian 15 demands: "Dearest Colleagues, we thought we had a clear understanding about how our little deal worked. You showed up once every two weeks to keep the aid flowing, we took our cut and gave you the rest in regular stipend checks. Then you were supposed to go about your life and never pay back the loans. Your credit sucks anyway and it's not like you'll ever have anything to get repossessed. Everyone makes out like a bandit and nobody gets hurt, right? (well, the taxpayers get suckered, but so what?) So what's this about you making noise to the press? That's NOT part of the deal, and we're not folks you want to mess with. Think about it. Love, Everest/Zenith"
The honest and "bright" students are the ones that get it. They have options and to take the option out of the school!
I wonder why ECMC didn't want instructors to inform the students of their student choice options. But now, I understand why, they are at it the same way with keeping the a*ses in classes. Students won't take the option if they don't know about it!
By the way, it's not incompatible to both have no sympathy for the Corinthian 15 AND want DOE to rein in Zenith. As 248 said, they are both social evils sucking the life out of the rest of us and laughing all the way to the bank!
To the Corinthian 15: Honestly, between the interview with the one who wanted to "go to Hollywood and become a movie star" to the horrible, horrible LaTonya YouTube videos, I have no use for these people. If these are the two that you are using as your face, you obviously aren't going to get anyone's sympathy. You are stupid, lazy, uneducated, entitled brats who need to learn how to put in a day's work. Either that or end up in the gutter, your choice. Whiny little dumbasses, it's hard to imagine you even moving up to shift leader at McDonald's. Law enforcement? What the HELL were you smoking when that sounded like a good idea?
248: I've never thought of it that way before, but you make a lot of sense. A lot of people come on here and seem to either defend management or the students, but the way they describe them is remarkably similar. We see many of our students as coarse, ill-mannered, greedy, unaccountable, "ghetto" sorts, and that's also how we view our management. I doubt that it's a coincidence. It really is a symbiotic relationship, isn't it? With us and the poor honest students caught in the middle.
Unfortunately, there are so many stupid people in America who get suckered and don't look ahead. I've never understood why anyone would take on a huge amount of debt (student loans, home loan, auto loan) if they don't have any means to pay it back at all.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what level of debt you are taking on.
Sorry, America isn't paying for your stupidity, especially anyone who is attending for profit schools after all of these shenanigans.
LaTonya - if you're reading this, go get a job and stop whining!
As an instructor, I've witnessed many of these sorts firsthand. rarely coming to class, being disruptive and disrespectful in it, never reading or studying, demanding passing grades despite having learned nothing, coming in for their stipend checks with no intentions of paying back the public loans that they took out to get them. These are most certainly NOT victims. They and the CCi management were co-conspirators in bilking the taxpayers out of billions of dollars.
