Never thought it would come to a "bloodbath" such that it did. Wall Street got what it wanted at the cost of some good people. As in the past, I didn't see any managers walk out the door. Always the little guy to bite the bullet.

Anyone who knew anything about the business were let go. Only the incompetent were left, from management down the ladder.
As a family member of an employee that was part of the bloodbath I can tell you from the way my loved one was treated and the stories that have come out of Houston and the other assets it was indeed a "bloodbath". Many people have compared it to being booked into jail, that's how impersonal it all was. People were not able to collect their thoughts, they were escorted by security out of the building, and often times their own managers didn't even have the balls to due the firing (they let another manager do it). Many great people with exceptional performance ratings were let go while sub-par employees (including managers) were left in place. I also have disappointed to learn that many contractors were able to keep their jobs instead of Marathon's own employees. Seems a little unfair and ridiculous to me. Our family will be fine, and I'm sure that many of the cut employees with be fines as well. This has just been an eye-opening experience for me (as an outsider) and I have learned that Marathon is not a company that values employee loyalty. Beware of what you are getting into if you go to work for this company in the future.

THIS IS SO TRUE. THE LITTLE GUY ALWAYS PAYS THE CONSEQUENCES. THE FAT CATS OF WALL STREET GOT THE MONEY, MANAGERS STILL RULE.
