On Monday, Everest Online is going to announce a major layoff of full time teaching employees. They are going to lay off most of the full timers and replace them with the adjunct staff. They are sending out announcements to the adjuncts, even those in active, that they will be offered courses for the spring term. Many full time teachers will be terminated, not reduced to adjuncts.

Not many full timers from what we are hearing are being kept. Sad day for sure to come.
Who is your source? Are they keeping some full-time faculty?
That is true, if you do not have an spring courses loaded this Friday, kiss the job goodbye. On Monday, we who are laid off will be getting the formal notice. Imagine a company laying off full timers and not even giving them the option of working part time. This is surely the result of low enrollment for sure. Wonder what the choice criteria of who stays was? I would think they will keep those full timers who are like our students, the minority and young.
I thought this might happen. Why wait until Monday, though? I think it will be clear if you aren't given classes by Friday. That being said, have any full-timers had their classes populated or even placed into their course home area? As of right now, I have no classes.
Yes, I too have heard this too. I think you mean that even the inactive adjuncts are going to be offered courses. While some full time faculty will remain, those remaining will actually teach the courses. The adjuncts are there just in case they need them. Laying off full timers save the company lots of money. Possibly, the next term, summer, the remaining full timers now remaining will go too.
