Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Layoffs did not target "old people" as some said.

Noble did not target the "old" people as some said, but there were employees from all age groups let go. What is funny is that some of the people let go did the best work.

This company is really immoral and unethical. Those people let go really have little chance to land on their feet. Especially the senior professionals and given the state of the industry. Absolute garbage company.

my figures agree with your calculation that 56% of employees forced to do "the walk of shame" were aged 50 or older. Of those, at least one was being treated for cancer, one had recently returned from cancer treatment, and one was out of the office under FMLA to care for her terminally ill husband. Since it is very difficult to find a professional job after age 50, employees should consider leaving Noble no later than age 45. And, don't get sick or allow your family members get sick. It is odd how one can be a valued, well-compensated, long-term employee in charge of significant projects on Monday and escorted out of the building like a criminal on Tuesday morning. But, this is Noble Energy.

56% of people laid-off were over 50. I'd say that is targeting "old" people.

Clearly older people were targeted for this "reorg". IF YOU WERE A SENIOR EMPLOYEE NOT IN MANAGEMENT YOU WERE GONE! They can spin it anyway they want. Look at the facts.

— Anonymous90076 - You are so right - I know of many who were older workers who were let go dealing with Medical Issues - how sad....

Most I've spoken to never had a bad review prior to being cut. Fair ? Think twice before working for this sub-standard company.

What pension plans? Oh you must mean the stock which is in the toilet. What is the definition of old, oh they don't have to be trained, they are not taking off to get married and have babies, and oh and they are the ones working more than 40 hours without compensation and they don't enjoy pre-school games. Remember what goes around comes around.

The older employees were DEFINITELY targeted. Because of age AND medical reasons

Thise with experience and years are more expensive, thats y they are laid off. Younger or new hired with no pension plans are more cost effective. Especially for listed company where shareholders only care about profit and costs. Not how much employees know.

Older equals experience equals knowledge equals questioning decisions equals knowledge and experience beyond level of managers and leaders equals no teamwork approach equals drink the Kookaid!

There were definitely people who were targeted and let go because of politics...

Getting rid of workers with experience and knowledge and keeping workers with fewer years. A sad place to be right now but we are stuck. You leave before they say you can then no package. Use to be a great place to work has not been for a number years. glad some still have employment.
