What kind of company allows it's employees to learn they are being laid off through a newspaper article? It's been over two weeks since the local newspaper broke the news, and yet the company has not even addressed the article with their employees. Meanwhile, we are walking around shell-shocked. Everyone is upset, some to the point of tears. Offices and desks are being cleared out so we aren't caught unprepared. Rumors are rampant. L-3 knows what we are going through and yet they aren't talking to us. The lack of respect they have shown their employees is appalling. Why can't they face us?!? Why can't they at least acknowledge our worry? This company is run by cowards. We are all adults here. Treat us with some damn respect.

Maybe they are following the ways of Waco, drive it in the ground then, put a bunch of new folks in that don't understand a thing about VIP aircraft then listen to the same old storey. No one supports me except me me me.
If the office in Madison is, indeed, getting axed, it is for many reasons in addition to Gordon Walsh's arrogance and malfeasance. Gordon Walsh and his minions are, collectively, the final straw that broke this once mighty camel's back. The downward spiral began when the Leadership of this company shifted from former military persons, who could strategize with our customer, as well as fly aircraft, to bean counters who didn't have the BRAINS for the former or the BALLS for the latter.
The fact that the titular President of L-3 Communications Vertex, Vortex, Latex Group Sector Vector - whatever we are calling ourselves these days, has been overheard to express his disdain for Mississippi, its inhabitants and its workforce demonstrates that not only does he not possess the aforementioned balls to address a stricken workforce, he has absolutely no respect for this workforce. And, by workforce, I mean everyone - Program Management, Procurement, Component Overhaul, Shipping, HR (although if you are really reading this blog, then you know there's some a bit of suspect behavior with the management cats in that department) and Security (see previous comment) and, most especially, those Site Managers, Various Supervisors and the mechs, av techs, et al. who keep the damn military aircraft in the air.
The T.P. (TITULAR PRESIDENT) may not be a bad person, a bad man, but he certainly doesn't seem to posses the attributes of a good leader. Not at this point in time. And, word up, TP, anyone who has ever employed someone to work in a position that pays much less than the one they occupy, and often these folks are working in a position that you are not qualified or would not deign to fill, it is not wise to diss 'em. At least not where they might hear about it. To put in a way that you, TP, might get: you don't criticize the person who cleans your toilet, unless you are sure that you have a better toilet cleaner, waiting breathlessly, outside of our native or adoptive Mississippi door. Because, honey, we aren't all redneck, racist, ill mannered and uneducated. We are not whatever it is that is the opposite of what you fancy yourself to be. We are wonderfully adaptive, complicated, insightful, hardworking, welcoming and accomplished. We can also be flawed, racist, tight a$$ed, loose lipped and our morals can swing in the wind like laundry on my grandmother's clothesline. What we are not is this: UNABLE TO DEAL WITH THE TRUTH or INHERENTLY COWARDLY. Whether we are native born or adoptive to this wildly, complex place, we are DESERVING. As a WORKFORCE, as INDIVIDUALS who have and will STAND with those who are not our race or our religion or perhaps our frigging cup of tea on many levels, we are pretty much of one mind on this:

The snowblower came back Friday perhaps doomsday is closer than Madison thinks. I feel so sorry for all of you who think that just because you are licking his salty balls you are safe and secure
Come on, everybody knows the office in Madison is getting axed because of Walsh's dishonesty. Can't expect a company to take a monetary hit like that and not retaliate.
