Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

MCBU Houston April 6-8

No word on numbers, but we've been told it will happen April 6-8, and to take all personal items home because, if called to a conference room by HR, we won't be allowed to return to our offices.

Cuts may be deeper than 10%. Supervisor indicated that other groups are making minimal cuts now, but that those groups will be doing bigger cuts later. Can't speak for the whole BU, but at least this team in MCBU is trying to get a bigger chunk of the layoffs done now..

The BU VP is a total idiot who believes that employees are always to blame rather than his lack of leadership or common sense. He is surrounded by head-bobbing sycophants who are unwilling to upset the screamer at the top. And the employees are the ones who will suffer!

I Experienced 8 layoffs with COP before I retired. Always very tense and very sad! It is a wonderful business that will show you the world! The down side is the boom and bust cycles. Good Luck to all!
