Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Noble Energy

This is a company that wants you to believe they have "arrived". But is is clear that they are just a bunch "frontrunners". As soon as things got tough they ran scared like a cash-starved start-up. Not what you would expect from a company that has "arrived". No other company in their pier group is cutting like they are. Keep this in mind when you are looking for a job after the industry recovers. This company is the K-Mart of the oil and gas segment.

They already are having a hard time keeping good people. Technical folks like engineers, geologists have been leaving in droves. Those people are in demand and they have options. They are not going to tolerate this amateurish garbage from this company. I work for Noble and I don't expect to get laid off. Mainly because everyone else has left the company! They need me! However, it has been very interesting to watch this management team do their tap dance from "we are family" six months ago to "you stink" and you are out of here today.

So true - their are plenty of 50 something Managers who are "moody" and inept at making the right decisions too ! I would like to think Hard Workers would be retained - but this is truly a very "clickish" company. Its not what you know, or how hard you work....but who you are buddies with. Once the Industry recovers - they'll have a hard time retaining "Qualified" people.

I would agree. This company is full of insolent "moody" 30 year old team leads. Really forced into these positions by managers who have been instructed to promote these people despite them not really have much industry experience or life experience to be successful. It is not enough to work hard and do competent job you must also fit in with their 30 year old culture. If you are not "cool" you will not get ahead with this company.
