Mattel only made money in the last few years because American Girl did. Now one lousy year and no job is safe. The employees who have been with the company the longest are now targeted for dismissal. First it was Voluntary Retirement sign up which weeded out about 30 jobs, some sort of monetary package and most likely a lifetime Employee Discount, whoohoo...! along with the opportunity to walk out the door instead of being escorted out and having the stuff from your desk mailed to you. Second layer of weeding out folks, got a performance review coming up? Well if you are targeted as one of ones to go then let's just walk you out before wasting time with that! Next layer---major operating system training, Don't want to train the undesirable employee? Meet them at the time clock and end employment.
Keep up the intimidation on a regular basis, having employees sign forms that remind them of the AT WILL employment they agreed to just in case they think that after these recent events are done they are safe.
