Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Why is wheels getting rid of all the women in power? It's like there can be no more than a handful females in leadership position in that group

at a time. Wouldn't want to be a female manager director or VP in that group or I would know my days would be numbered. Guys, it's not 1950

To those bemoaning Mattel as an all-boy's club, it was women at SVP, and VP levels in Marketing and Design at the helm of Barbie for the past three years. No guys have helped them run it into the ground. Let's think about getting good leadership, men or women.

Jill Barad was great at product, but a horrible CEO.

Because there are so many guys in power on Barbie and the Girls side...

Who have they gotten rid of in Wheels that was in power? one VP? may there have been other issues?

Are there other "women in power" in wheels that are gone we don't know about?

One or two does not a trend make.

The closed world of Mat-hell's gender stereotypical toys created a gender stereotypical culture and mindset. If this is how you think about girls and boys, there's no reason why you wouldn't apply this perceived difference to adults. Management doesn't want this to change despite Mattel's failures to innovate. At least Hasbro has a girl Nerf line and is open to change.

"Management at Matell sucks' - examples please... Ranting without supporting arguments is useless.

Where have you been? This is a good old boys club. Always has and always will be unless we get a female CEO which would be a refreshing change. Somehow it's ok for men in their 50's and 60's who have absolutely no knowledge of product development or what kids want to be in senior level positions but for women in their 50's and 60's, it's out the door. Look around. Definite double standard.

Seems like the"all guy" team is a popular mode of operating on design teams in other locations as well. Obviously, women do not understand toys typically perceived as only being directed towards boys. So, there are no female designers on our boys team. Just another reason, possibly a small one, possibly not as to why we are not showing real innovation. We can't even be innovative in our team building. The death spiral continues and I am dusting off my resume.
