Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

What happened at Nisku Ampscot?

Heard there was a bunch of layoffs. What's going on? How many jobs lost. What is the plant output going to be? Any details would be good. I'm at one of the other plants and am shitting bricks. All the big bosses are here this week.

They made Coulter the GM??? So stupid

I remember someone that was really good who was there for a short time as Manufacturing Manager. He could have made a difference.

Ampscot was an excellent family owned and operated , always profitable in boom as well as in bust, from work floor to company manager , everyone have say and very positive in put in day to day business. One foreman and one lead hand to assist and work at the same time at his station like other operators, no useless conditional and impractical paper work, no non sense non experienced and impractical safety practice, no wasteful useless industrial supply orders, no twenty lead hands, no five safety supervisors,no five useless planners, no five useless continuous improvement guys, no eight fork lift drivers, no useless production manager, ALL THESE PEOPPLE ARE AND WERE WASTE OF COMPANYS time and money. If any weatherford management at local or higher level has doubt or question I am more than glad to answer it. I am proud to be an employ of this company but am very sorry for very poor management at weatherford ampscot.

Over paid compare to their peers in industry, Machinists $40.00 to $45.00 on average, not sustainable. Have to give you the one about when it was in private hands. Yes, it was good company, respected, decent pay, profit sharing, knowledgeable management. Look where Weatherford took it, just about on brink of bankruptcy.

That's not good news. How many people work there?

overpaid compared to who?? Try making ends meet when taxes and deductions take such a huge bite out of take home pay. Bought food lately? huge price increases due to low Canadian $$. And gasoline is up to almost the same price as before the oil crash !

Gotta agree on the incompetent management though. When Mr. A owned/managed the business it was very well respected and made money.

Just about time, plant is losing money for years. Overpaid workforce, incompetent management, etc. No light at the end of the tunnel.

Ampscot is located in Nisku Alberta, Canada... an industrial area 10 mile south of Edmonton or so. Ampscot to be shut down June 30 and work to be transferred to Katy, Texas. No doubt all people will be laid off. There will be more closures and restructuring as this company has it's problems as we all should know.

Weatherford Ampscot are closing the doors at Fabrication/Welding plant and are laying off the majority of their machine shop workforce, done by June. already shut down the night shift at the machine shop. Layoffs happening now. They will continue to run at a low production pace some part of machine shop. No mention of severance packages for Fab shop. Yup. Thanks Weatherford.
