Some posts here treat orange hats with contempt we never came to WFT straight from college most of us have worked in the industry and bring a lot of experience and what's happening just now is no fault of ours, We came here for better opportunities just because you wear a Red hat does not make you immune from layoffs over a orange hat.

Thanks for the comments never meant it to be a cocky statement, the un-WFT way training given to me by my buddy Red hat is top class so very lucky to be buddied by him as with other companies I have worked at the rule book was thrown in the bin outdated drawings were common and communication from the top is vague to say the least ? Then again this is not just a WFT thing hopefully my buddy does not go over me I prefer the old fashioned system of last in first out which is no longer used! I was just trying to get across some Red hats NOT THEM ALL feel they have the god given right to be immune from layoff some have only ever worked at WFT and to be honest would struggle somewhere else! Most of these people making the noise are so far up the managers arse it was embarrassing to watch I think they are now getting found out and the managers worried for their own jobs are dropping them like stones so orange hats have now become an easy target to hide their own incompetence!
I agree with both sides. If you have "RED" hats that no longer care about their job nor the Company, are not willing to cross train, make errors on a regular basis, abuse sick leave, attendance is questionable and they have been written up; then yes by all means let that person go. BUT with that being said WHY let "RED" hats go that care about their job and the company, have never been written up, have an outstanding attendance record, have cross trained, are willing to go above and beyond? I will tell you why - Because they make more (even if it is 3-4 dollars), they have filed an HR complaint (BAD APPLE syndrome) in good faith, and because a co-worker does not "Like" them for personal reasons or because that co-worker is not doing their job and the "RED" hat has said something to HR or Management. There are some good "Orange" hats that have shown they are good employees, so by all means keep them. I understand the Seniority, Tenure and Loyalty aspect as well. Its all a Management flaw at Weatherford. Its all about getting the product out even if it means bending the rules and If you are willing to do that.. well you will continue to have a job. Which in my opinion, is the reason for the state the Company is in now. Yes the Oil Industry troubles has something to do with it, BUT, This has been going on for a long time and it was bound to happen sooner than later. With or without the recent Oil Industry trouble.
dont worry orange hat your day will come . so dont get all cocky.....
Years of working for a company isn't the only thing to consider. Sometimes long serving people have slacked off due a sense of entitlement , developed a bad attitude, and are reluctant to all change.
I agree with Pissed!! Not mad at the Orange Hats - just the guys making the decision to keep them over the red hats who've already worked their way up
IT SHOULD, it's called seniority, tenure, and loyalty. Look it up, I know these days it's not as valuable as it should be but it is worth something!
