So many managers I've worked with are gone or in process. Many were great managers. Why get rid of your seasoned staff and have these young. Know nothing's running stores

Management gets a bonus and raises based on earnings and stock price. At any retailer, payroll is the number one expense and the easiest one to reduce for short term benefit - improve profit and stock price. And believe leadership is here for the short run.
On the retail end, I was talking with a store manager at one of the Staples stores I deliver product to. The manager said job openings had been posted since Thanksgiving 2014, and not one single applicant has applied. I asked what the hours/pay was, and was told retail store associates are being hired on at that store for 20 hours a week and minimum wage to start. Now, minimum wage in and of itself is barely worth getting out of bed for, but 20 hours a week of minimum wage and no benefits? Hahahaha. F*** me, I'd rather work in a McDonald's if it came to that. Good luck staffing those stores with that hiring strategy.
I'm aware of a couple people who were placed on a PIP and later terminated.
I am an admin assistant on the Advantage side of staples... are we part of this group getting nit picked to end up getting shown the door? It sure feels that way just to get us so stressed out we either leave or get written up to the point of being fired.
how rampid is this. how many have been fired or on pips right now?
is this companywide or just division 3
this sound like a class action lawsuit if you ask me.
This is also the case of the Advantage side.
I was given BS write ups for supposed policy viokations for nonexistent polices. Been there almost 10 years and fired because the store wasn't meeting its ZB score as an IS!
This has been a constant theme lately and I have just learned of two damned good managers being put on PiPs for store conditions after dropping to tier 4 and losing a ton of payroll. It is a planned strategy to shed long term, higher paid managers.
This is coming from the top. Cut payroll. Recent communications are only hire at minimum wage,no need to start any higher. Cut higher paid management. Meetings with titles of leadership vs friendship and enable or inhibit. These just feed into the negativity. And encourage the knit picking behavior with no positive feedback at all. Moral is down and they want to blame that on management too. Wrong level of management. Lookin the mirror district managers
They are finding any reason to do this.even minor thing that are superior responsibilities and calling it policy to fire them and deny their unemployment. Managers of 10 or more years are degraded in front of associates, harassed, called 7 days a week at all hours, and threatened daily. Years of loyal service and good reviews for denial of basic unemployment to feed their families. What kind of company does that ?
