I have worked for all three companies now. Two of them I have been in the management seat. OM was a good company, Staples was terrible, and OD was by far the best. Now that OD is having "hostile takeover" by Staples things will only get worse. The writing is on the wall for OD employees. Staples is a horrible company to work for and all they care about is the bottom line. They care very little for their employees and almost go out of their way to show it. With Staples you are a number who better produce money. With OD there was a great work life balance, with Staples there is 0 work life balance. You are a number that receives a paycheck that is all. Many of the changes that are at OD are in line with Staples practices. I can't believe that they knew about this since September of 2014 and did nothing to prepare or let anyone know what was coming. Get out if you can before stores start closing. Closing captains have been assigned, certain store managers have been offered their severance packages already.

67711 is correct, run for the hills! With the Corporate Express acquisition, all we hear is "Legacy Staples" and "legacy CE" employees. DO NOT BECOME A "LEGACY OD" employee.
I worked for all 3 also. All in management positions. I carried so much stress on my shoulders for so many years and as I walked out after getting laid off twice in 2 years, I realized I had nothing to show for it. Nothing. The associates hated me for pushing them to sell worthless warranties. And the upper management hated me for being number 1 in the district at tech sales, but being below goal. I put 20 years of my life into those 3 companies. 20 years of never being home for dinner. 20 years of feeling guilt for not coming in on my day off. 20 years of guilt for takin a day off for a child being in the hospital. 20 years of my life that I could have been in a cival service position looking forward to retirement. I just wish someone could have said thank you for all the years and dedication you have put in. Instead it was "you're laid off, I have to walk you around the building to gather your personal things. Don't speak to the associates about being laid off." Sadly I was truly dedicated and cared about the success of the companies. Put my heart into it, literally. No one cared though. And those DM bashings about what a loser I was really hurt deep inside. I wish for one day they could live with the pain, anxiety, and depression I feel daily in my brain because of it.
If I have any office supplies I have to buy I go to one of three places:
Walmart
W.B. Mason
Amazon.com
I won't ever shop at Staples again with the way they treat their employees. It doesn't matter how fancy their ad campaign is. I will never walk into a Staples ever again because you never get treated with respect.
