Announced today, 8 out of 29 staff R&D engineers are being laid off from the Bridge of Don plant, Aberdeen (Completions & Production BOT). Due to UK laws, redundancy's take time to process and we are not sure which 8 employees will be made redundant at this time. Any colleagues from Navigation, CTI or Emmott Road aware of any selection process used to determine which members of staff are made redundant? Or is it just names out of a hat?... Not aware of redundancies out with the engineering department at this plant.

Anonymous67424 what planet are you on??
All the highest paid will be let go, all your most experienced people leaving the relatively new inexperienced people to take your business forward. It may be a deciding factor for 2 equally performing people but I think you hare just trolling with that BS!
Not true....we had higher pay stay and lower pay let go. Some is performance and some personal and sime based on pay. The excel sheet is required by law in layoffs. It is not used to pick who is selected
the Total Compensation between Grade levels is the main criteria.
attendance and performance ARE NOT going to be taken into consideration. Only grade and salary.
Anyone aware of the criteria used in this spread sheet? Or how the equation is weighted? I imagine job grade, attendance and performance will all be used somehow
This was how the souls got picked at CTI:
You will be amazed to find out how they select the souls to be laid off. In each of the severance package, there is an Excel comparison sheet, with 4 columns showing job title, Salary Grade, Date of Birth and Selected / non Selected. If you (layoff folks) looks at the last column "Selected / Non Selected", it is automatically generated from an Excel Formula based on some criteria range. I bet the actual Excel file has only employee numbers, Not Employee names. Therefore, when the person works on this excel, he really doesn't know who is/are actual souls because only employee numbers stated. So, I can surely say the personwho set the criteria range only focuses on the money value, not care about the business or how valuable the lost souls will affect to the company's business. So, the Excel file used to compare everyone at the same level, for different group (under Director) . If your name unluckily falls into that criteria range, even if you are only $1 higher to the lowest range, then you are picked. If you are $1 short off from the lowest range, hooray, your name is not picked. Also, depend on how big of the group level, the cut will be in ratio also, for example if there are 11 engineers level 1, then the ratio will be 3 people to hit the road. So, basically, it is just a game: HIT or MISS. If the first round still does not meet their quota, they will do the 2nd round follow the same technique, just to lower their criteria range. That is why you see a lot of good hardworking people were expectedly let go. So, don't blame on your direct managers or his/her boss, because their names are in the comparison charts too. Anyway, it is stink, but what can we do?
Aberdeen getting it bad next week.
layoffs in Stoneywood and Westhill, looking at numbers a lot lot more than the notional 11% that Craighead suggested. And all this before the takeover redundancies - Aberdeen is in for a rough few years.
confirm this, lay offs next week shopfloor bod,its going to be ugly.
All locations in aberdeen area had lay offs today-more next week we heard.
Heard shop floor aberdeen will be looked at next week after vice pres visit.
