Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

H1B Visa Program

Having been replaced by an H1B, all I can say is that Musk started a conversation that none of the corporate elites wanted spoken aloud.

Pepsi, along with many other companies, has been abusing H1B and offshoring laws for over a decade now, knowing that the government isn't watching and there are no penalties.

Pepsi and other companies definitely saw this coming when they set up Hubs in india and near shore. H1B law changes wont slow pace of jobs outside of the US. Now that hubs are in place they can simply turn up hiring when they feel the need or when US employees feel a bit expensive to them. You would manage this way too if you got paid based on stock price in an international company

Lol. Your jobs aren’t going to the H1Bs; they are getting offshored. PEP does very little H1B sponsorship.

Even HR roles are outsourced to India hub starting 2 yrs ago. Finance is in Mexico.

Not just India and Mexico. In the last 2 years the d-mb leadership created several hubs - India Mexico Egypt Poland China Spain. While there has been growth in jobs at these hub locations which started with the GBS expansion, it came at a cost of US employees losing theirs

Who needs H1B when you can move the jobs to India and Mexico and bypass the hassle of US based employees altogether.

I don't see that stopping in 2025. I'll be replaced by then.
