Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

I’m terrified of losing a job

I’ve been trying to find something else for months now, and nothing. My current situation doesn’t allow me to be jobless for longer than a month or max two. I know that many of us are in the same or even worse position. I will continue trying, but I’m completely demoralized. I think we all need some boost, or we’ll all go nuts under so much pressure.

I followed the advice of this guy, who also has a lot of free content in YouTube: https://www.alifeafterlayoff.com/
I updated my resume and LinkedIn profile and started searching and contacting the company recruiters that posted positions I was interested in. They are easy to find, just throw the posted position in the LinkedIn search bar and see who shared it or posted about it, 9 times out of 10 you’ll get to the recruiter that way. Most of the time these recruiters will get back to you and will at least give you a chance. It may take time and be frustrating, but don’t give up and keep seeking and applying, and you will eventually make it. Remember, you only need one that believes in you. Good luck!

The severance is better in Canada, but if you're in the US, it's definitely a bigger problem. Unfortunately paid job boards apparently post more legitimate jobs. Freelance might also be a good temporary option to earn a bit of money and still have something decent (in addition to Avaya) on your resume. I need to look into that myself. The job market is not good.

Let me guess, You are in North America.
Remember: What will happen will happen.
Interview yourself and see what else you can do. Maybe private tutor or uber or anything that makes you feel you will not crumble. And keep on looking for a better and more serious job.
Good luck!
