Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

What is true about layoffs at Medtronic

Hello, so unfortunately I was laid off a few weeks ago and was told that I need to find another Medtronic role in 2 months unless I will be terminated completely. Has anyone successfully found a new role before two months? Is it true that the recruiters get flagged to put you in priority for an interview?

I feel like my time is limited and I currently have no leads just applications either under review or moved to under consideration.

If they wanted you they would find a way to keep you. Move on

Same story as @131+1wcfai6h: laid off after 21 years, was offered a lateral move at a substantial decrease in salary with a requirement to be in the office. Said “thanks but no thanks”, used their services to get a resume update, and networked to lad a role at a smaller, all remote company with a 51% bump in total comp.

Can’t tell you what it’s like at a company that is, and wants to stay, at the top of their market. So much better somewhere else. Don’t stay miserable at a dead end company!

I was offered a new role during the garden leave period. After years of poor leadership and uncertainty, I decided it was time to leave Medtronic. I took my severance package, joined a smaller company and could not be happier with my decision. My advice- utilize the professional development services that MDT offers for laid off workers, have them redo your resume and start looking for a new company. You got this! There is life after MDT and like most of us, you will quickly realize life can be better away from MDT.

There are no more innovation in Medtronic. Now, it's all about thinking of ways to cut cost.

I did see one LinkedIn connect found another MDT job early this year after RIFed.

There is a metric for Sr Leadership to hire from MEIC and not US local, and a push for back to office.

Good luck everyone in 2025!

The only people that are going to fill those positions will be from India.

I experienced the same thing in 2020 - and I wish I hadn't wasted so much time and effort trying to find something internally. There were several positions that I interviewed for up to the point of an offer only to be ghosted. And, no priority was given whatsoever. Move on ASAP.

When they eliminated my position, my team and I had an estimated 4 months to find something else, and we were told we'd have priority for internal positions that we were qualified for. The first two I applied to and was qualified for rejected me with no reason given. I asked my HR lead, and was told that the priority just wasn't going to happen.

One person from my team found an internal position, and they achieved it by basically applying to everything they could find.

Good luck to you.

move on, once you leave it will feel that weight has been removed from your shoulders, go find a smaller company to work for, one that still appreciates employees that contribute to being successful

Almost no one finds another role on garden leave. Don’t waste your efforts or get your hopes up.

You should honestly try to find a job at a better company.
