Unless all of them are doing it only as an attrition strategy. If that’s the case, then how many will continue doing it until they realize they are also losing talent due to RTO?

The technology to afford workers to opportunity work remotely has not been around since the “dawn of industry.” Relatively recent. Pandemic forced companies to upgrade to ensure continuity and production skyrocketed as did engagement. Agree w/ other post that it’s not about ”culture” and stating that again and again is insulting to our intelligence. It’s about control. Period. Imagine how much could be saved and produced in lieu of annual layoffs and hiring freezes. Employee engagement and loyalty would be higher w/ no geo restrictions in locating talent. Less sickness, stress, harassment, and more time to be with family/friends or just live life without being tethered to a depressing cubicle every f’n day.

Why do you have to be so rude to make your point? And also you are wrong, working from home is not a snow day, many of us have been even more productive working from home than in office. We work later into the nights due to lack of commute, and we also sometimes work during our sick days, since we don't have to worry about infecting coworkers.
Your argument is basically like stating that we should go back to washing clothes with lye soap and a washboard, just because that's how it's always been done since the "dawn" of man. Or go back to using an abacus instead of a calculator. Or go back to building outhouses instead of enjoying modern plumbing. Your argument just doesn't cut it.

The same question could be asked of overpaid CEOs, boards with unqualified members, wasteful consulting engagements and countless other items.
RTO is a power play. It has nothing to do with revenues. It has to do with labor control. Fear. Taking your earnings.
Attrition is just a side benefit.
