You didn't know that you already are a wage slave? That's why you are here, obsessing over being disconnected from the master.
Reality check!
You won't be laughing at AI when the AI agent takes your job. Being ignorant in not a get out of jail card.

You too will wish you had a safe space when the globalists have no use for you.

"Nasty tone."

You probably should get yourself a cup of hot chocolate and your bunny slippers
then rush into your safe space child.

A union can't prevent a company from being mismanaged.

The point of a union is just to receive fair treatment for employees.

If you think joining a union as a tech worker will help you with job security, you should look at companies like Stellantis and find out how that's going.

If you actually want to break down why your point is wrong, I will do that but I suspect it's a waste of everyone's time. I can also explain exactly how we will deploy an AI agent to replace you, if you let me know what your job function is. But you are very smart and ahead of the game. :)
Good luck.

AI can do everything a CEO can do, including putting its own interests above the company's.

"Stock buyback initiated... Beep..."

AI will allow us to maximize our profit margins.
Better returns for investors.
Better stock growth.
Lower costs for consumers.

How is this done?

  • Pair AI with robotics and you get lower labor costs.
  • Use AI for plant layout design and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Use AI in purchasing to reduce business-to-business costs (software, materials, etc).
  • Use AI with engineering analytics and arrive at better designs with fewer designers.
  • Use AI as a subject matter expect in every aspect of the organization. Fewer senior employees.
  • Use AI in the HR function to lower management costs and lower the cost of on-boarding & off-boarding.

Every aspect of General Motors' labor picture will drastically change moving forward.
Are you excited about 2025? Get ready to be calibrated!

PS: At the lowest level, AI can comb through your emails and IMs to find gossiping, improper information sharing, non-business use and more. Enjoy.

Eliminate it for crying out loud.
Only bring in people that work for successful companies located abroad.

Basic economics says that when there's a shortage of a commodity, the price goes up.

Are any of you engineers seeing big raises?

High tech companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon have laid off tens of thousands of engineers over the last couple of years.

GM too.

There's no engineer shortage.

Companies shouldn't be allowed to lay off a single American engineer until every one of their H1Bs has been laid off. They should be the first to go since they're supposedly filling an engineer shortage.

It's ALREADY the law that h1bs have to receive the going rate and companies have to make an honest effort to find an American for the position but be unable to do so at any price.

Beyond dealing with temporary shortages, it's meant to bring in the best and brightest.

But none of that is enforced, so in practice companies routinely bring in mediocre employees at cut rate prices. It's just cheap labor.

The solution is to make hiring h1bs more expensive than hiring Americans, so companies will only do it if there's a true shortage or a unique skill. And they'd be motivated to backfill the h1b with an American as soon as they could because it's cheaper.

Not only should the H1B receive the going rate salary, but the company should also have to pay the government twice that salary annually.

H1bs would cost companies 3 times as much as an American, but they could get the critical employees they claim they need.

The fee paid to the government would be dedicated to enforcing the proper salary, and training Americans for the jobs in shortage.

H1-B discussion was we-ponized into nasty division but what came out of it:
An agreement that H1-B workers should receive equal pay.
That way, companies that truly can't find work outside of the American worker pool can get help elsewhere and no one can say, "you are doing it to save money".

I suspect there are people deluded enough to think lock down 2.0 would be a great return to WFH paradise.
What it would really do is destroy what is left of our economy.

Nah, the American middle class have been leaving CA in droves.

"A talented workforce lifts all Americans up."
Uh, America was already up. Now apparently America is going down fast.
I am not sure why this super talented workforce was not successful elsewhere.
But whatever we brought in has racked up about 30 trillion in debt and numerous other issues. In fact everywhere this super talented workforce went, those countries are in the sh----r.
