I leave bad marks in those surveys, but I don't leave written comments. English is not my first language and I'm in a team of all native English speakers. It would be easy to identify me by the comment.
@1836 this is done by most managers that are one notch above front line management, especially by inept managers in TAC
In my Cisco business unit in Milpitas several managers intimidated and manipulated direct reports into strictly positive reviews on Cisco Engagement pulse. Highly unethical tactics were used.
It depends on the manager.
Cisco HR has no control over managers using abusive tactics.
Nope, not anonymous, but it used to be advertised as such, even though that was a lie. This has been covered on this page before. I made the mistake of being honest about improvements needed, and I was cut 6 months later (I was also an older white male.....multiple strikes against me).
Nope. Not anonymous. You know they can listen to every call, track every keystroke. Everything.
The survey is a tool for giving them sweet lies, not bitter truths.
Giving dishonest positive answers means leadership will think they need to keep going down the wrong path making things even worse. Personally I answer honestly but if I really feared consequences I just wouldn't take the survey.
Not really. Leadership doesn't ask the right questions. All the surveys I get are:
Leadership has way more indicators and better methods of gauging how their path is going than for me to say I'm not confident in .... These surveys are worthless.

But there’s not much point to being negative. It doesn’t change anything so why risk your job even if you’re response is negative in a professional way?

Always keep your skills and professional network up as when management finds out things are bad, even without a survey, and HR comes in to give the same scripted speech about "we may need to bring in consultants to see if we need to disband this group" everyone jumps ship within a few months and the company ultimately fails in that market segment.
Big brother is always watching you....of course these anonymous answers are 100% traceable...

I gave a semi negative response to one question and was latter yelled at by my manager for it. I was very surprised and I learned 100% it was not anonymous and from there on and only gave high marks.
100% your responses are trackable. Does you manager know? probably not. Does you Sr Mgr or director know? likely they can find out. NOTHING that requires a CEC/AD login or is serialized to you is anonymous.
Had a manager years ago tell me it isn't actually anonymous, and that they use it to identify the troublemakers. Just what I heard.

Although they claim anonymous, I have been warned that they are scraping webex chats, etc. for things to rail at people about so I would be careful in how you word things anywhere.

if you are ever confronted about noncompletion, just go in to the survey and select a random smattering of answers that are neither overly positive or overly negative
I had something negative to say, and hit submit. I’m under the impression it is supposed to be anonymous but it’s not difficult to weed out the anomaly especially if it’s a smaller group.
There are managers at Cisco Lisbon who conduct engagement surveys every two months.
Even if you do not leave any overtly negative comments but merely express a critical note, these managers will track the employees. They will first hold a team meeting to pressure everyone into explaining the results, and afterwards, they will dismiss the employee.
It's all about just playing the game.
The lead page says it’s not anonymous. It says the results are anonymized, but if you say something they really don’t like, HR can find out who said it and take any appropriate actions.

If you read fine lines, it is compiled for groups so should be anonymous. Managers also eliminate negative comments and low ratings for few abnormalities unless most folks rate low. Managers care more on these numbers than their people growth and development.
