Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Buckle up for next year

If you thought this year was rough, just wait for what’s next. Cisco leadership is so fixated on boosting profits that they’ll cut any corner or slash any job without a second thought. The company’s been sliding downhill year after year, and there’s no end in sight. Things aren’t getting better anytime soon, so get ready, it’s gonna be an even bumpier ride.

Yes men , that is all that’s required to keep the job . It’s about time it’s made a requirement in the job description .

OP tl;dr: OMG! Layoffs might happen!

You're almost 24 years too late. Add this to the endless pile of essentially the same post. Wake me up when they do what they've already done with wage freezes, dry promotions, rank-and-yank, and other techniques to abuse the employees.

Cisco has reduced headcount but didn't build a better company

The company went from 48,000 to 35,000 in 2001. It's what now, 85,000? Like a worm they cut off old parts and they grow back new ones.

Cisco hasn't been able to get the job done in house for most of its existence which is why it started acquiring heavily 30 years ago. Senior leadership both technical and managerial insist on making the same mistakes in perpetuity because they have no idea how to improve exceptionally bad skills and processes, and as the ICs blindly do what they're told eventually they lose the ability to improve as well. The cult of personality required to so fundamentally change and improve those skills and processes throughout the company, push down the technical debt, then actually start doing real development for the next growth areas seems unimaginable.

All we need to do to stop this train wreck is make some actual products that serve customers well. Why not focus on that?

You can see the reintroduction of RTO, there are so many little incentives for staff to come back to the office. Once mandatory RTO begins we will see employees exiting on their own which will save the company money and LRs will not be so deep.

Cisco has reduced headcount but didn't build a better company

nothing has changed, same underperforming company, just with fewer people

at some point the market will stop rewarding LRs if revenue continues to decline; no one wants to buy a piece of a death spiral

CR is like so many Cisco employees - HE JUST WON'T LEAVE, and he doesn't take the hint

One guy cut so much he got promoted! To a high level. The lost useless person i have ever seen. He stops his own people from getting promoted, regulates CR to minimum level. Its all optics with him. The most recent director he hired is so rubbish just another yes man…

Cisco is desperately trying to steal intellectual property. Not a good sign.
