Performance Review Season

Is everyone excited for the most wonderful time of the year? Annual layoffs ensure performance review season has never been more exciting! The more people we lay off, the fewer 1s and 2s, we have to award!

You survive annual layoffs, while your upward career mobility has never been smaller, and you have an ever decreasing probability of elevated performance rating! It’s almost like the goal of the ELT is to remove all the incremental career opportunities they enjoyed to get where they are. Other than that, the culture’s great!

I have been in 3 different orgs in 25 yrs. So I know some orgs make sure that the system has correct goals/ results ahead of ratings no matter who gets the ratings. Supervisors and employees have meaningful conversations throughout the year. In IT, the system is an after thought to fill out so they don’t get a lawsuit.

Don’t matter, it is a 3 …… and boss will tell you , he also got a 3 (“fking lair) and it is better than most of the people. Will get the normal 2% pay increase, and no RSU. Never mind you put more than 50 hours a week for the greater good. EPR is a joke…. Question is did you su-k up or not
