Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

NDAs

so there obviously be peeps on the inside who got the lowdown on whats about to go down. problem is it feels like half the company is in on it and those that have signed the NDA seem to really like to remind the plebs that they know stuff that might throw our lives upside down, but they cant tell us because ... NDA. apart from anything, most NDAs require that you don't share you've signed an NDA.

what is in this NDA that they really don't want the workforce to know? it's not like we don't all know a good chunk of us will be gone in the next twelve months, so what else are they keeping to themselves?

the lack of transparency around all of this feels cruel and abusive. we are all people with our own lives and people who depend on us. what is the company so afraid of happening if they share a few scraps of useful information with da teams?

whole thing is a debacle and has completely destroyed my trust in the company.

The senior LTs all know the big plan but none of them know the details because no one has planned the details. The “let’s do what everyone else is doing because the Mcckinsey group told us to” plan is for cr-p. You don’t earmark a billion, rent an office building capable of hosting 6000 Indian workers without at least knowing that all of IT is getting the axe. The NDA that some of the leaders in IT have is a tool to help them lie and deceive to us.

Hypothetically, if a person was on a project to evaluate outsourcing/offshoring service functions, they would sign an NDA.

Contractors always sign NDAs. Employees are only asked to sign them when involved in merger/takeover work.

this is totally wrong in IT. Folks who are on NDA do and can say they on one… we just had a few leaders share that. At first it is only folks under LC. Now it has went down a few levels to people we worked with.

That said, folks on NDA only get shared the info that they are in need of help only - this means only LC and his outside consultant team he used to work with really know and can see the entire picture.

A monkey who relies on Google only knows what the computer tells them. That would be the case that the persons in command of the computer information and it's censorship and filtering would have control. That sounds familiar.

Any monkey can do a 30 second Google search to find out that NDAs are definitely used for more than just mergers.

My guess is that they brought in a consulting firm and the NDA is to make sure company financials and plans are not disclosed before Chevron is good and ready to make their big announcement.

As far as what the announcement is, I don't know. But my prediction based solely on my thoughts of MCBU since that's the bu I'm in is that we know they plan to reduce rig count by ~20% by EOY 2025. So I predict MCBU head count to go down. 1 in 5 people to be cut with contractors being the 1st to go.

I also predict there will be a sale of some less profitable acreage and possibly divesting in 1 entire BU with all people in that BU laid-off. No clue which BU it will be. 90% of IT, HR, and admin roles to be dropped and/or shipped to ENGINE. 50% of CTC jobs that are monitored remotely will all also likely be shipped to ENGINE which I think will include quite a few highly technical roles.

I've come to believe that Chevron believes anyone can be trained to do the jobs within the company. Anyone that believes people in India can't be trained to do these button pushing jobs is a mrn.

NDAs are only used during mergers.
