Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Follow this - to not get laid off

Negotiate band, not base pay.

Lay offs are focused on high base pay by band.

At your next promo, push band, not base.

You want to be low base and high band, to stay off the Breene radar.

Or unionize, but that is not getting any traction.

Will only say this: my life has been infinitely better since leaving Global. Nice folks there as all are stranded in he-l's boat. Folks try I will give them that and there are some very good and well meaning people there. But my god, a horrible place to work to make a living. I had many bad jobs, some good ones over time. But Global is frankly the worst you can find via any level. Life is way too short and meaningful to work for this company. Lots of options out there people no matter your education or experience. This company is simply the worst.

With increased band, it is expected you will play a bigger role and have to produce more. With getting a promo and limited salary increase you are doing more for the same or just slightly more pay, it doesn't make sense. They will just pile more on you without further pay. If they don't want to pay you fairly then just find another job with another company, simple enough. Put yourself in the driver's seat instead of the passenger's seat.

Imagine if you worked for a company where you didnt have to leverage your low pay to stay employed. "Don't lay me off, I'm the cheapest band 4 on shift!" Lol

Normally these are newer folks who were able to negotiate well before accepting.

Internal promotions are light, 7% if you’re lucky and it does not get diluted with the 2% yearly merit.

“Hey managers, let us know who suddenly speaks up about negotiating salary bands instead of numbers”

Sure thing HR

Yeah, because one just pops in and starts negotiating band/pay like it is nothing.

Really cracked the code, there. Whew!

This actually is a good strategy. It’s the highest of a band that usually gets the axe. Good work. Cracked their code…
