I was one of the core guys who was let go last month. Its so shocking these guys did all their reaeaech before and wasted 100M in 2020 and again in 2024...What a waste of reaources? Do even contractors and employees will come to work in Cwnovus in future? I wont. Crazy

I really hope JA didn't get laid off... How else is he gonna fund his car collection and 'not racing' insurance schemes?

Has anyone heard about a media announcement from our communication department to announce layoff of 200 employees and contractors immediately taking place and Supposed to go out next week (not sure on date) to media?

I guess Canada is ignoring the US Thanksgiving holiday and laying people off next week anyway. I guess better to get it over with. It will happen after turnarounds are complete downstream anyway.

Congrats to those that get the golden handshake. If the company only knew how many employees were wishing they’d get that tap on the shoulder…or should I say, get that mysterious meeting invite to one of the many meeting rooms that HR books

Very confusing, do people just make these posts to start a mass scare?

Look through here, 3 years of such posts

Where was it stated that layoffs were confirmed? I know there were layoffs in Lloydminster and a few others here and there, but no announcement that I’ve heard?

How about they start with any recently promoted SVPs or VPs and then thin out some useless directors.

Ditto and to be fair though the layoffs will be by seniority - last in, first out and include every single department in the company. Canadians get a decent severance but not sure about the US protocol.

Workforce plan - Downstream reduction of 75 salaried positions, 18 hourly in Q4. Corporate office - reduction of about 125 total in Q4.
Layoffs will extend to contract employees as well.
Q1 will be additional downstream layoffs with some potential if increasing contract employee support for executing major turnaround.

The previous posting was removed because described Jon’s faith if stock does not improve. His days as CEO are numbered.

Oil prices will go down with Trump taking the WH, next year will be rocky for energy prices

Yes, layoffs have indeed been confirmed. They're happening steadily, almost daily, but in a staggered manner to avoid drawing attention from their media allies or the premier who frequents their forums.

It’s a recurring cycle—they follow the same pattern every few years. Unfortunately, the stock hasn’t responded positively in recent years, and now it seems even those at the top may face consequences this time, not just us, the rank-and-file employees.
