Should send Lisa Su an email or tweet at her and ask why? Letting go a bunch of regular 5 figure a year workers for what? A corporate rat who is disconnected from the actual company can get a bigger bonus?

The guy who said to hire a thousand you gotta remove a thousand is wrong (but I understand their point), this just simply boils down to greed, end of story. The company is not hurting for money right now, they had a dip year over year (a simple market fluctuation) and think that by cutting 1000 workers (rough estimate - 4% of 26K global pre-layoff) they can save 100 million (rough estimate) a year to make up for a single quarter reduction of 250-300 million (rough numbers) from the previous year. All it's going to do is hurt the quality of the product and stress out the remaining workers, damaging morale and hindering motivation. Don't be surprised to see many people polishing up their resumes as a result and joining the already nightmarish job market we're dealing with right now.
This is a really cr-ppy time to be a tech worker.
Get real, which ocmpany has not had a layoff over the last year? If a cmpany needs to hire a 1000, they need to remove a 1000. Every job that can be divvied up between the remaining personnel - would be let go off.
Is that not what we do with gardeners and electricians and other trades people who are employed by the hour? We employ them and we pay them for exactly the time they worked. Many development jobs end up becoming routine software maintenance.
Lisa Su literally cares more about wiping herself than she does about the minions let go from jobs that were greatly benefitting her bottom line.
Good idea tweeting. This is all incredibly heartbreaking. Would love some answers.
