Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

US Commercial Sales & Engineering LR

US Commercial is sinking. More LRs coming. On the Sales side, there will be ODs and RMs impacted due to consolidation of Operations and Regions coming in 2H and FY26.

For the Engineering side, Phase 1 of SE Pooling starts in 2H as they want to reduce cost of SEs. This pooling will expand in FY26. This will result in LRs for a few SSEMs and SEMs. For way too long, SSEMs and SEMs wanted to make SEs mini-AMs and that has lessened the value of the SE.

Yeah GES got major restructures 3 times in the last 1.5 years. It finally seems a little settled but man the impact on everyone was crazy and a lot of teams not necessarily even in sales were absolutely gutted. Makes sense that it is now commercials turn.

At one time Cisco SE was the gold standard in the industry. That’s when the SE was technical and not have to do all the AM sh-t these days, had years of real world experience, knew networking back to front and sometimes was ccie. Cisco become way too complex and too many products that remove them from networking. Too many people LRd and SE has to pick that work up. Cisco lost its focus and lost his way. We have a saying “Jack knows all the trades and is master of none of them”. That is Cisco these days and getting worse. I thinks GaryS is aware of this.

whats taking so long. this should have happened yesterday. sales teams and regions are overstaffed. the SE gold standard was stripped away long time ago.

When the #1 region in FY24 is a SMB region that had a fraction of the goal of every other region in USC, that is not good news. Our OD shared with us when the number #1 region is a SMB region, that is a leading indicator that the US Commercial business is in bad shape.

No need to cover tiny customers since we don’t make products for them anyway.

Happened in GES in February, so no surprise that it will happen in Commercial now.
