Thread regarding IBM layoffs

"IBM announced job cuts related to AI."

That's like saying Bob divorced Alice over voices in his head. Buzzwords nonsense parroting in MSM.

They say layoffs aren't a business peril but innovation we should applaud - a sign of great success!

Question: if an AI does the same job several times worse than a human being, have you really replaced that job? Or is this just a cut without concerns about consequences?

On most AI projects they never measure quality or compare it to the people replaced.

This is like saying they a 1st class seat on Delta has been replaced with a "basic minus" seat on bankrupt Spirit airlines. Are they really fungible? Would you be fine paying first class prices for a seat on Spirit? That is how we "replace" jobs with AI today. Marginal quality at best; vastly worse than an experienced human; powered by a lack of valid metrics - more BS "OKRs" that measure nothing meaningful.
