Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

New CIO?

I’m surprised there isn’t already a post about this yet. Any idea what happened? Neither the email, nor the town hall, provided any information.

Is Naveen out dear god I could not stand him and he was one of the top reasons for me wanting to exit stage left a few years ago. I'm sure the new boss will just be like the old boss though

Since the ouster of exCIO, I am beginning to question things as others should too!

The recent org changes and WEP that occurred during his tenure, was that ethical and in the best interest of the company? What kind of shady deals may or may not have taken place with ACN or others? We may never know...

With his ouster, a lot of his doings should be undone.

Perfect opportunity for leadership to rip off the bandaid and bring in a CIO with previous outsourcing experience. Just do it - run the business - stop the inefficient functional msp’s. Outsource IT as your consultants have told you to do - or…… create a IT strategic roadmap and stick with it!

Despite the ouster of exCIO, as mentioned, nothing will change!

TP insisted the same corporate strategy will remain in place regardless of regime change. A culture of outsourcing will continue within the IT organization.

I haven’t seen any real performance review or merit based promotions in the last 15 years. It was all who su-ked up to whom. My glass was always half empty.

Under exCIO, the entire IT org lost its wheels. Goals and Performance measurement is a joke. They are just placeholders so the system does not send alerts. Ratings were done without any conversations. One manager told that one has to be likable (to whom?) for supervisory roles. A new mgr to our team ask why should he promote someone in the team if they did not help him. Last years survey results were never shared with employees. Does any of this sound racist? Those outside IT have no idea how deep the rot is!

I hope they expose the other snakes as well who had heavy backing of mr. N. It's a common practice to do favors to your buddies, but here, it's gone to a different level. It's disheartening to see some managers engaging in unethical practices and shady deals with companies they have or had ties with. Such behavior undermines the integrity of the entire organization and erodes trust.
The way some positions are created in certain teams only benefits a few companies owned by contractors who work for them. Or companies who they worked for in the past. Go look at a few org charts and see how they operate, and decide for yourself.
Its already reported in the ethics website with more specifics, so hopefully, they will investigate and take appropriate action and restore some sanctity in the vendor management process.

Lots of attention and comments on this thread makes me think this is top of mind for many employees. Some of the names mentioned below are regularly discussed amongst employees. Why is the code of conduct not enforced? We are all asked to review it annually.

With the CIO situation and the Propel Fuels situation and the failed BT effort it seems Phillips 66 is a rudderless ship headed for the shoals.

Now if only they'd walk the Russian out for losing 600 million in a goofy lawsuit. Then things would really be looking up. See ya, NP, you won't be missed.

Some more cleaning of the IT org is needed. Guys who grow ranks by su-king up to CIO.

Although this may be a start, let's remember there are others who need to follow Naveen.

Their approach to outsourcing jobs also needs to be reconsidered.

Given the 5+ year history of documented ethics violations and the total lack of respect from most of IT and the business for the ousted CIO, it is only a surprise that they finally did something. It must have been BIG for them to finally take action.

Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person!

The interim CIO is an outstanding leader and well respected by the organization. Hopefully they will give him a chance to become permanent.
