This is a generic discussion thread to capture comments about potential AES layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

@1cyr That is quite illogical because if they no longer work for AES then clearly it wasn't a culture fit already.
Further, anyone with any innovation or ambition would have gotten ousted from AES because they are stuck in their ways and legitimately refuse to change because "that's how we've always done it. ain't broke, don't fix it."
@1cyr Punishing AES employees who didn't create the culture and organizational issues shows everyone that NEXTEra should be avoided.
Hey AES, I'm with NEXTEra, you can try to emulate us, but you will never catch up. We deliberately will not hire from AES because your culture is one of disorganization rather than organization, which is what has made us so successful and AES a failure as evidenced by your Return on Equity and recently featured as the lowest in the industry by a long shot.
@1bhz What are you talking about? AES was definitely at RE+
Why wasn't AES at RE+? Too close to bankruptcy? This time next year AES will no longer be a viable company. Can't even make it to RE+. Hilarious
@1avn was this in US Utilities as there was a restructure announcement but no mention of layoffs?
More layoffs happened this past week. Looks like this time, it was at the VP level.
Hey, potential buyers of AES, make sure to check out internal EBITDA reportings for the last few years. See how they measure up against forecast. Dig through their financials inside and out. Make sure they’re not hiding anything. Just do it! You may be in for a crazy surprise!
JPukecanon resigned good riddance. Enjoy the 25% to 50% tariffs on wind components. That ought to clean your clocks aes Arloed.
Any news as US Utilities HR head just quit? Seems a little foreshadowing…
Better start digging those turbine foundations and getting the racking ready AES. Looks like there will be a new board soon regarding AES 2026 layoffs or could we get lucky and its AES 2026 Bankruptcy????????????????????????????????????????
Glass Door has aes ranked at the bottom. No surprise there. Look at who they hire.
I heard that Miller is broke. Say it ain't so. Isn't he the guy without a college degree who AES made a COO. Yikes, guy can't even manage his own money. No wonder AES is going broke and laying all those geniuses off.
There should be a federal takeover of AES this dumpy company.
It will be miracle if AES gets Great Places to Work certified again...
@1715 posting job openings gives you opportunities to take tax credits. My understanding is you don’t even have to fill them.
I’m curious about the meaning behind their recent rehiring efforts in positions previously held by those who were laid off in March. Does this indicate that they’re trying to project an image of stability to the market, or is there a different reason behind this move? I’d appreciate any insights or explanations.
What’s it like to work for the Venezuelan mafia who conducts rolling layoffs. Wow, what a place to work. When is the next one?
Liar Liar pants on fire
How about them apples. AES stock up.
Keep the hiring going
How about them onions….aes down again….just layoff the entire wind and solar mini school bus driving underachieving thugs….they can’t function without government subsidies…..put them on government cheese or let them dig through garbage for food
@14m1 hard to say. AES has been quietly laying off since summer/fall of last year. Only of those layoff rounds made national news. They’re trying their best to keep things under wraps so that they sell the company. I found out about people being let go by hearing from colleagues and checking teams but don’t know the exact number
What???? Another layoff happened??? How many were impacted???
Sorry for the ones that are impacted, the grass is greener elsewhere.
@14k8 crazy how you can try and spin market sentiment spike on company sale rumors as “the company is rebounding operationally”. No, markets are reacting to this company potentially changing hands to potentially competent leadership. It should be a wake-up call to any executive currently still with AES. That said, after another round of laying off some of the most experienced (but highly compensated) senior leaders in the org this week, it’s starting to become obvious how desperate AES has become to offload the company to an unsuspecting buyer. Short term gains for long term failure. Good luck trying sell this dumpster fire
Indiana electric bills have spiked 17.5% in one year. We, the employees of AES (those who are left) are the working class that have to pay for the grid improvements that billionaires and their corporations want. AES is already way too late to the game but surprise surprise they arent going to use common sense. The corporations get discounted utility rates, and the customers have to cover that shortfall as well. This is only going to get worse.
AES is like working on the set of Broken Backside Mountain except it really a trip down Hershey Highway
Why would anyone work at AES? Seriously. Is this where losers go to die and send out leadership emails when they know nothing about leadership or making money for that matter.
Money changes everything
I said money, money changes everything
We think we know what we're doin'
That don't mean a thing
It's all in the past now
Money changes everything
@14ft well when you put the person who was removed from this role in 2018 because of perceived failure back in the same role, how can one expect any different result? Also how do middle managers get fired or demoted because of flattening the organization but presidents of Ohio and Indiana are kept. Curious minds want to know.
We couldn't have failed without KZ's great leadership.
AES is a failure, couldn't have said it better myself. Enjoy the ongoing RIFs and the ongoing asset sales.
Putting someones name in the post/comment is against the sites Terms of Service. Its not some conspiracy.
AES leadership is so incompetent they cant even keep a utility company afloat which prints money. You are giving them way too much credit.
You think they are playing chess but they are in the corner munching on Candy Land game pieces.
There were 185 posts on this two days ago. Bottom line, AES is a failure and this site is covering things up.
@1418 "Corporate asking for update on work preferences, relocation etc, what more evidence do you want?"
What does this mean? Was this an internal communication?
The second half of the year is not going to be pretty. As soon as potential buyers find out how messed up the financials are, they are going to think twice. Maybe there will be one that takes the bait. Who knows! Best advice for anyone here is to update your resume. Otherwise, you’ll likely face one of two scenarios: get laid off now or get made redundant later. Reach out to your old connections and ask for help. Most people are sympathetic to your situation. To the a-hole who keeps calling impacted people underperformers, people like you are the reason why good people have quit this company in droves already. All new openings I’ve seen are for low-paid entry positions, likely backfills, with heavily slashed salary bands. That ain’t the good news you hoped it was.
Corporate asking for update on work preferences, relocation etc, what more evidence do you want?
@13h6 I call shenanigans
Did you mean the hiring of d-mb and d-mber from South America to be Bernerd’s lackey like yourself?
Just the same id--ts. Hiring has and will continue.
BlackRock's Global Infrastructure Partners have reportedly expressed heavy interest in AES. The largest institutional investor in Duke Energy is BlackRock, Inc. Duke Energy representatives haven’t had a heavy presence at AES all of the sudden because of the free coffee.
While it would not surprise me if they are more layoffs/asset sales, “AES Insider” has really not said anything of substance. I know 3 positions that were filled in the last two weeks with a couple other open. Also made the regular 10Q filing and investor call sound like something foreboding or scary.
