Do you predict that there will be Western Digital layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

@rh7+1vnp8Rah: any further inside info on this?
Western Digital is scheduled to layoff US workers in June 2025.
Western Digital does not care about American Jobs. They will outsource it just like they did with all the USA engineer and Trump won’t stop the bleed.
Santa is real and Trump will make WD great again. Just believe it.
Trump is going to Make America Great Again. 2025 is going to be a year of prosperity for the American companies. Stop spreading false rumors.
There's a hiring freeze coming. Layoffs are a certainty in FlashCo. HDD is also having a hiring freeze after the new year. 2025 is an unknown because of how tariff risk may impact all businesses. I predict a recession by summer and mass layoffs. Companies will let go of H1B workers first this time because of Trump policies.
odds are up after yesterday's reveal of mid-quarter pricing headwinds
@qkot+1vnp8Rah if we believe the news, Kioxia set to IPO on the 18th
it's a cyclical, commodity industry with a history of layoffs, so it's not if, it's when
December 18th of what year? Joking?
about time
Separation is happening on December 18th
I am hearing something is happening on December 18th.
if you're ok with Koixa likely driving enterprise flash roadmap and programs
@ibsj+1vnp8Rah. seems you need it
inrs+1vnp8Rah, IPO doesn't mean merger won't happen. It may be later, but still make sense to happen.
@bsxh+1vnp8Rah You are wrong. Kioxia IPO is happening in December. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bain-backed-kioxia-sets-ipo-075658564.html
Kioxia is more eSSD than client, so we all have to decide
“ A lot of people quit on the flash side” no, a lot of good experienced people were let go on the flash side, which caused others to leave.
vnp8Rah. seems the IPO for Koixia didn't work out
A lot of people quit on the flash side, but Kioxia merger might happen in 2026
I think the person who posted this question is a troll and not at all informed about the inner-workings of the company.
There might be a layoff in November 2025
they're likely at some point based on history
seems doing as much as possible through natural attrition, but with the split looming it make take more
IMO I do not think there will be layoffs as there has been significant attrition which has not been refilled. However, they may encourage more attrition in the US through another disappointing compensation review.
