L3Harris Philadelphia is closing and the workers will merge in Camden. Lay offs will happen before the closure of Philadelphia location.

OK here's some grist for the rumor mill: look for announcements in the IMS/Maritime area around February. Don't know about other sectors... barely know much about IMS, but that seems to be the buzz around here.

The typical severance package has always been one week's pay for every year of service. However, your health insurance will stop at midnight of your last day of work.

Does anybody know what severance package is provided?

I expect one after the first of the year for SAS. Lot if stop works and failure to secure contracts.

I’m good at answering the FAA hot phone and after saying “Harris FTI, Zeppo speaking. please standby”. Will I be laid off?

Thanks for explaining the Warn system
In other words it doesn’t mean anything

Violation of the WARN act is a fine that just makes the company pay a severance. By offering a severance, the company "pre-pays" the fine. So, they can lay off without warning . They know what they're doing . This isn't their first rodeo

Does the WARN system have to be activated for small Riffs!

That applies to retirees as well. If you retire early, before Medicare eligibility, and stay on the company plan, you were dropped too. Imagine having a prescription that went from $8 a month to $65 overnight. That's right. And unlike employees, retirees don't get raises. Since we don't work there any more, they can't lay us off. But they can still stick it to us.

The company is still relying on policy changes to reduce the excess workforce. By reducing benefits that are mostly needed by older employees, the plan is to drive them out without having to lay them off. For example; Why would such a large company have a prescription plan that has dropped coverage for the most common medications needed by people over 50? To name a few; Medications for diabetes are no longer covered. Not generic Metformin, not even insulin. Prescription eye drops for glaucoma are also no longer covered. Most of the better blood thinners? Also dropped.
They want young, single and healthy people only. If you start out your career that way, good for you. But, you will wake up one day and be 50. Life does that. And so do things like diabetes, heart disease and glaucoma to name just a few. If you're still working there by then, you are truly s c r e w e d. But, if you stay in momma's basement, don't get married and don't have kids and don't ever get sick, you'll be fine.
Something to keep in mind while planning your career.
Suddenly, the prospect of getting laid off isn't so bad.

"Word on the street is L3h was glad they lost the FAA FENS contract."
Verizon will be more than happy to take that 2 billion dollar contract off your hands for you. But we won't take any of your displaced employees. The industry already knows they're not worth shyt.

"Word on the street is L3h was glad they lost the FAA FENS contract. FTI loses money anyway. Reduction in headcount has been projected in Melb."
No one in their right mind would be glad they lost a contract. It's like P-e Wee Herman saying "I meant to do that" after falling on his a-s. They lost the contract and all of the money they spent trying to get it. They lost it because, in plain English, they su-k.

Maybe 2025 will be the year they finally get rid of that money su-king business in Clifton. All of the talent is gone anyway. All that's left up there are a bunch of cowards, weaklings and losers.

There will be layoffs in 2025. Probably 1000 people over the course of the year.

Is the latest round complete? I suspect not... probably some end-of-year "rationalizing" in the form of layoffs just in time for the holidays.

L3 stands for layoff, layoff, and layoff. And you thought it stood for Lanza, LaPenta, and Lehman Brothers?

Some will be laid off. Some will resign or retire. Others will be hired.

Nothing concrete has been said by the leadership at our location. They are mostly in the dark as far as what corporate leadership's long-term plans are. But, it is well known that L3 Harris is on track to save 1 billion dollars over the next three years. They have also said they would reduce their real estate footprint substantially meaning, closing locations. This of course would result in a reduction of the workforce. Since the company has already reduced the workforce by 5% company-wide and an additional 1% from the aerojet rocketdyne division, it stands to reason that more reductions are on the way. 2025 will certainly see a reduction in force. How much is for now, anyone's guess.
