Yes, they may be expensive but at least they have a direct impact on customer satisfaction and can bring intelligent ideas.
If you're going for an LR - go for the Powerpoint directors/managers - they bring no value to the company, they su-k resources dry and we have them in large numbers.
They are self-protecting employees who shuffle seats every 3 years to stay out of the danger zone.
They are the real threat of the company, not the so called expensive engineer.
Problem is they double down on fake innovation and micro management systems versus actually impactful future tech
when a company stops innovating, the only way it can make money is to cut costs
you either move the top line or the bottom line
