PGT is the end goal. Those who are familiar with it know. Start looking at the new facilities being built on the Frito Lay side of the business. You will notice the sign out front changed to PepsiCo. The facilities are huge! Way more room than what’s needed just for frito. Plus they are being run by 3rd party companies. The new Omni routes hitting the market with the new style trucks are allowing them to be able to load, deliver, and merchandise all PepsiCo owned brands from one facility. Side pallets loaded and unloaded from rear, chips, Quaker from side of truck. All operations side is being handled by 3rd party companies which eliminates overhead expense and people management from Pepsi’s plate to be able to spend more and focus on improving sales. Streamlining and segmenting the go to market to one driver delivering everything and merchandisers working everything, and account reps ordering all Pepsi owned products streamlines and requires less people managers. Pepsi has been talking about this for years, and now with the company all being transitioned to one global infrastructure IT system now enables this to begin to happen. Look for more Pepsi locations to close up in the coming months as these new buildings come online and operational.
