One year since layoffs... Are the laid off people not allowed back into Schwab?

I was laid off last year. They apparently will not rehire anyone who received a severance, due it being a tax write off. Therefore, it is useless to apply.
I have applied for few and all were automatic rejections from Schwab.

I think this may be overstated or perhaps dependent on the Schwab organization. I was laid off in October 2023 in very good standing. Of the many veteran colleagues who were laid off in October 2023, I know of only one person who Schwab rehired into a totally different group. Many others were hired at other companies, several went into consulting work, and others are still looking for work.
Over the last months, I have applied to four Schwab job openings within my previous department and level (IC). These jobs were close matches to my technical expertise and previous position (which I really liked and was good at). For every application, I received only an e-mail rejection letter “… We have decided to pursue other candidates for this position”. I believe that many of Schwab’s job postings are either “phantom jobs”, postings for state legal requirements and not actually available (filled by internal transfers, re-orgs or outsourcing), or perhaps Schwab hiring managers are hesitant to re-hire those laid off due to emotional damage, avoidance, guilt, damaged goods mentality, etc.?
I made the decision to move on and it has worked out well.
Damn son, you really working at 7 Eleven? They're right, the job market really must be hard out there for real! I'm not knocking the hustle, I'm just a bit surprised!
Come back? Ha! I'd rather watch the hot dogs turning all day on the rollers in my 7-Eleven job than come back to the Schwab Sh-t Show.
Thank you, great response!
No one has any idea when the job market will get better. A lot of places are waiting to see how the election shakes out, along with any more rate changes. Typically companies do not do too much hiring between November - January. Hopefully late Q1 or early Q2 things will pick up again, but no one has any idea at this point.
“Remember, remember, the forth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.”
The person I referred to in the last comment who was laid off in October and came back as a contractor had been laid off in October 2023, FYI, not October 2024. But yea, would like to know if anyone has any insight regarding when the job market will become normal again? Seems like it's so tough right now.
I know of one person who was laid off last October from a full-time role and came back as a contractor. The job market must be tough. Anyone know when the job market will get better?
lol why the he-l would you want back here
They are allowed back. Many have applied and been rehired.
