Regretting joining BD?

I just joined the pharmaceutical systems business unit a little while ago and noticing a lack of capable people here. Lot's of talking heads and nobody knows anything. Don't want to regret too early but judging by this board here, I may have joined a sinking ship?

Regret is the active word, joined MDS 2 years ago, no growth, only layoffs/turnover and any backfills/new roles that do get filled are international. Franklin Lakes is a glorified call center, even with hybrid schedule, moving to 4 days on site is tactical grasping a straws. Management is in denial and did not learn any (good) lessons from pandemic, obsessed with lean at any cost. Bigwigs travel freely while penny-pinching travel for middle- and lower level employees who are working on supposedly important NPI or cost savings projects. Delusional pride over 'kaizen' events revealing obvious solutions that wouldn't be needed if the processes were under control and not crazily leaned out.
DEI is weighted at 40% by management with regard to goals, I guess it makes sense that BD seems like 60% or less of a medical device/combo product company.

Look at every company on this webite, they all look the same. Disfynctional and with issues. It's like families, it's complicated and hard. In my case after 35+ years, it was an awesome ride (with some pain and a few falls)

Your initial impression is spot on. Nobody knows how to do anything. This is a circlej--kfor middle-management types to su-k each other off on calls while they all pretend to do something besides su-king themselves off on calls. Its actually incredible how devoid of hard skills this organization is throughout all of its ranks.

If I were you I would stop caring about this organization immediately and focus on finding your next gig. You won't get laid off because nobody can tell what actual work looks like anyways.

Looks like the old PS captain got thrown to the sharks just in time—thank god! Now we’ve got a new leader at the helm who actually knows how to steer, unlike the last one who practically drove the business straight into an iceberg or rather swamp. There’s still a handful of her crew around, especially in marketing, but it feels like we’re overdue for a fresh lineup and sharks seem to be hungry for another one! The potential here is real, but to get this ship back on course and ready to compete BIG TIME, PS needs to bring in a crew that’s ready to push forward, innovate, and actually deliver. With the right team, this ship could be unstoppable in the big race!
