Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Office Days Are TERRIBLE !!!!

Going into the office on Mondays & Wednesdays absolutely drain the life out of me. I have to listen to these chatty women all day talk about everything from Halloween to hair conditioner to hot flashes. I need a quiet environment to focus. People come in who are sick, coughing, sneezing and spreading germs. Use you frickin sick days, you get 7 of them a year! On warm days, the air conditioning never works and I have to sweat my nut sack off in a room warmer than a sauna. On top of that, I have to deal with traffic and bridge openings. I lose so much time in the morning and evening having to commute and it reduces my productivity.

Yet, King Kobayashi wants us to come in three days a week for “collaboration”. GTFOH, nobody collaborates. Does this b-m even come in to the Melville office ever? Even if he does, he probably gets chauffeured to and from the office, has a private suite office, and gets waited on by his secretaries.

I don't mind going to the office. However, I do mind that they moved us to a different office and now we are pretty much sitting at the smallest desk (imagine tv trays) with low walls. You get people talking over and through others. You get no privacy. If you are on a business call everyone around you may as well be invited too since they can hear everything. The chatty kathys love it The rest of us who do our work don't. At least they could put a shorter spacer between desks so people cant just lean in and interrupt you constantly. I get less done IN the office then at home due to the constant noise and chatter that is 99% non work related. Dont get me wrong we all need a break but some people are out of control and Canon does not seem to care. Just line us up like lab rats in our cages.

I agree with if you don't like going into the office find a job that will let you work from home. BUT if you come into the office and everyone is still doing teams calls from their cubes, then what is the point to being in the office. Most offices are a ghost town from past layoffs over the years.

The only exception I have is that the people that work in the demo centers and support the service organization with 3rd level support need to come in the entire week. You can't trouble shoot a customer's issues only on monday or wednesday when you come into the office to use the equipment. I will say the people that feel that they are entitled are the demo people!!

Exactly. There is no reason to fuss about having to work in the office. That is what most people did even during covid. There is a second option, go somewhere else who will let you work from home

Sorry but you sound a bit entitled. You get a paycheck correct? If that's what they want as they do pay you so be it. If Covid never happened this would not be a topic of conversation.
