The CEO already said the layoffs had nothing to do with the strike...however the longer the strike goes on the more layoffs there will be probably.

I feel Boeing will give IAM what they want, but the number of IAM workers in WA will be reducing year after year as work will be shifted to corporate-friendly states. Demanding higher pay is good, but there are consequences. If I were to manage Boeing, this is exactly what I would do. There is a difference between strike and extortion. I am not trying to be mean, just realistic.

You don't deserve sh-t. Outside of boeing you'll be lucky to make half of what you do now. You demand higher pay than engineers... if you don't like your compensation go elsewhere. You need boeing more than it needs you.

If the strike issue is resolved next week, would Boeing still proceed with the announced layoffs?

Absolutely right. The longer you all can wait the better the contract you will get

Thats their problem, the machinists deserve 40% raises and their pensions. Only when we get our demands will we start working again.
