Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

My manager is avoiding me

I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if he knows something about the future (that I'm being laid off, for example) and can't face me. He's a good guy and we usually have a good working relationship, so this has me worried. I tried talking to him about it, but he always finds something to be busy with when I try.

Carpool with your manager. It is a popular thing at Chevron.

All managers are that way anymore. To heck with them.

He’s probably legitimately busy. Try not to take it personally. Lots of managers are under nondisclosure agreements at the moment and are stretched super thin with almost constant consultant meetings and planning discussions. The waiting period is lousy all around for everyone.

It may be because your manager is sad and can’t fake being his regular self. Many managers are being cut too. It is sad all around. Try not to take it personally. If you have a good relationship you know your supervisor will do all they can.Unfortunately, this scenario is out of his control. Hang in there.
