Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Why are we always the ones who end up on the chopping block?

Isn’t it crazy how the rank-and-file employees always seem to be the ones getting laid off? Bad results? That one makes sense. But then there are times when things are going well, and we still find ourselves out the door because the leadership wants to keep their growth going. It’s so frustrating! When they mess up, we pay the price, and when they succeed, we’re still the ones who get cut. Are we just destined to be the scapegoats?

As much as I'm annoyed about what MDT has become under Goff Marta and his rent-seeking leadership team, you're incorrect. RIFs affect VPs, Directors, and Senior Directors as well. I've done plenty of RIFs personally and it isn't just 'rank and file'. A President-level employee that shall not be named, was 100% a RIF, as was a high-level Finance person (not Karen), but they dressed it up as an amicable exit because she's of a certain color. If you mean it doesn't affect the upper levels like Geoffrey and his directs nearly as much, sure, you're right, but you're wrong if you're saying it doesn't affect people leaders. It 100% does.

Ridiculous comments. You are responsible for your own life- own your destiny and go somewhere else. Or is it you have nothing compelling to offer?? Learn, get trained up and make yourself valuable.

Laughing at the baby comment but also nodding in agreement. This place is toxic, kind of like the popular group in Mean Girls. Any “real” person can see through the BS and fake personas that are prevalent in this company. BRB, gotta go write a LinkedIn post about my accomplishments to gain clout instead of spending time with my kids!

I don’t know how long you’ve been working, but this is how it is. Look at the Star of Excellence award. Do you think those managers did any of the work? Credit is sticky, it sticks to managers. Fault rolls downhill to us.

Then we’re so bold as to list the people responsible for MEIC becoming the job vacuum that it is. That’s both out of touch and arrogant.

This place is primal. You need to be concerned with your own survival. MDT is not civilized, it will eat your children and drink your blood.
