Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The Engine - Clarity Please

I have no issues with the Engine. There is exceptional talent in India and combined with exceptional talent in the US it COULD be an amazing thing.

The issue is the lack of clarity for the US workers. Make it clear to your current work force that is talented and driven how this thing works symbiotically with the Engine.

With the lack of communication it feels like there will be a chopping block every year happening. It has destroyed morale and will result in everyone trying to jump ship ASAP.

You looking for people to be happy and praise company decisions that cause layoffs? It’s a stressful time that often results in sharing of info and opinions about what is either known or suspected, yes some wild rumors, that get packaged like what you read here. Go back to your fantasy novels if you prefer to live in one.

Is it true that after 3 years, Indians will be invited to compete for seats in the US? Could be a new hunger games.

Leader of the engine is a self absorbed maniac who on the one hand thinks he’s saving the company bc he thinks negotiating down the cost of a laptop by 5 rupees means he deserves his own fancy perks that are above everyone else. He’s caught up in his own media write-ups and deaf to those whose jobs he’s taking from BUs that it will be a guaranteed fail. But could have figured that out by learning from the very companies chevron thinks they are following. Don’t do it. More billions wasted.

We also have excellent talent in the US. Already on the payroll. We he ENGINE will not solve the problem, which is the total lack of accountability for leaders at all levels. The head of the engine is the single worst leader I’ve worked under in 20 years. And yet he fails upward. If he couldn’t lead our existing experienced staff to success, he won’t be able to lead a bunch of newbies.

Management badge tracks and encourages butts-in-seats because it’s better for culture and collaboration. They “modernize” the workspaces in the US to open offices. Then they announce they’re building a tech center in India.

Wake up.

There will be no “combining” of the talent in the US with the talent in India.

mgmt: there is a robust pipeline of experienced talent in India that we can leverage to improve our technical capability!

also mgmt: let’s spend all day recruiting inexperienced 20 year olds at universities!

The majority of excellent Indian talent doesn't stay in India, they move to the US to work for companies that don't include Chevron. Don't kid yourself, this is a cost-saving decision only. Management doesn't even understand the work they're offshoring.

There may be good talent in India, but it won’t be working for Chevron.
