They have the cash and buying Viasat catches them up to Starlink much faster. Instant complimentary GEO constellation to their LEO, government access, instant distribution network for selling, and L-band for D2D as their first generation LEO satellites won't have that capability. They will have the launch vehicles too for further launches. They spend $10 Billion on Kuiper. They could have Viasat/Inmarsat for half of that amount.

do you think Bezos is stupid and wants to lose his own money in a failing company?
Not sure why anyone would be happy with Bezo purchasing Viasat
Have you heard the horror stories from Amazon workers?!
Yes I believe Bezo would make Viasat much profitable, but would definitely make it much harder to work for. Shoot you might be out of a job, Bezo would find ways to contract jobs out…. Just look at all their drivers at the warehouse
I disagree but we can hope
@bwq+1vefagCV Bezos can disrupt it much faster, with more tools and less competition doing the deal. Viasat also becomes profitable faster under them.
Does Bezos strike you as the kind of guy who likes losing money? There's honestly no business reason for him to do so. Viasat is emblematic of the kind of industries he disrupts rather than buys.
@ayt+1vefagCV just buy us out with Amazon shares and less cash. Then he can have his team and we get better shares lol
I think customers would rather "ride or die" with Bezos than Guru. Amazon inherits all current Viasat customers. They probably stay with the new entity and get LEO benefits/opportunity to hang with "cool" Billionaire who can compete against Musk.
This wouldn’t happen
Since Bezo is to fixated on getting an NFL or NBA expansion team lol or outright buying one
They may as well wait another 6 months and buy out of chapter 11
It’s not a great “brand”, but it’s not well known either so maybe the stink would go away quickly.
They could probably buy VSAT today for $2B and that is a high premium. Agree your post.
