Good luck to those wanting to stay, and good luck to those hoping to get laid off. Either way, we are in crazy times. Take very good care of yourself, and family and friends.

“Remember, remember, the forth of November,
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.”
How do you know targeted layoffs for November 4?

Isn’t penny/pound. It’s tiny little ego and STS hiding failures.
At some point, even you may become costly, only to be replaced by cheaper alternatives—those who manipulate the truth for personal gain.
I’m sure you know exactly who I’m referring to, don’t you?
Yep, sadly that's the case in an environment with a penny-wise pound-foolish mindset, such as this one.
Is it because at that point it becomes too expensive to keep you?

If you're technically sharp and quick, they'll ensure you’re out.

Tools team is joke. Total tools. I had stools that moved faster then them.
This board possesses deep insights into the tools team and is well-informed on other areas as well.
In some cases, they even have specific knowledge about individual teams.

We should layoff the MD here who can't compile or build a project he/she manages. Send em home without severance. LOL
Targeted layoffs on Monday November 4th.
Could you hint the name of the Scrum team, along with whether the members are full-time employees (FTE) or contractors/consultants from a service company? Additionally, is the Tools team quite large, given the number of tools they manage?
I'm the asker of the why downvote question, but not a member of Tools team, and I would like to know the same thing as you. Hoping the Tools commenter could respond.

Nothing in motion.
We still have the small quarterly ones and forced attrition efforts. A big one will need some external excuse.
Yeah tools team
MD here and I am not hearing about any wider layoffs this year.
Are there any schemes for smaller scale cost-cutting, such as firing one or a few members from each team?

Twas the night. Before layoffs, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a mouse
Tomorrow should be the day if they want to accrue in 2024 which is the norm to set up for a better 2025. Although other rumors point to first week of Nov but that doesn't make sense to me.
