Cisco's Katsoudas Says 'Wait and See' Element to Trump Policy

"Fran Katsoudas, chief people, policy & purpose officer at Cisco, breaks down the company's expectations heading into the Trump administration and the current cybersecurity and AI landscape. (Source: Bloomberg)"

Really? Who is she and why is she the voice of Cisco Product/ET Strategy? More importantly, who in the finance universe is talking about Cisco and AI in the same sentence?

In case Fran needs a lens outside of her Silicon Valley world, Trump has a mandate and strong technology leaders in his ear. She should stick to HR policy and DEI.

She sounds like KH with her bouquet of "word salad" thrown out in this interview - cringeworthy.

Tech leaders Bezos, Zuckerberg, Cook, and Pichai look for face time with Trump ....
Fran will 'Wait and See' Element to Trump Policy .... LMAO

You're whining about current and ex CEOs meeting Trump, almost all of whom have had strong negative interactions they'll be expected to atone for (Washington Post, possible censorship, offshore manufacturing, etc...) and you think Liz is the CEO of Cisco and should therefore join them?

Boohoo! A lady makes more money than you and gets to speak to all the important news outlets about the company while you whine and wonder “who is she”? on a sad anonymous website. And she’s not even white, oh my! Here, have an entitlement cookie, they’re greeeeaaatttt, specially made for sad, whiny, old guys who want to go back to the days where they’re the boss regardless of mediocre skill level

“But quit the soft misogyny.”
Progressives argue with bumper stickers. You’re a forking 🤡🤡🤡

Go a few threads over where Liz was blamed exclusively for Cisco's bad acquisitions. For those that aren't bipolar, it's not all and it's not none. There is a small faction for which this is a problem.

Disagree 100% as this statement would have never been made of Kamala was elected.

Unlike the orange guy who thought increasing the deficit would instantly create 7% GDP growth (it didn't) and that having DOGE instantly terminate 7% of GDP (not including all the spending by those who previously received that 7% would no longer be doing) isn't going to have significant effects on the economy, she wasn't proposing those kinds of step functions. Those along with 2000% tariffs, withdrawing from NATO, nuking North Korea and trying to blame it on someone else, taking over the fed and creating negative interest rates so his personal companies can borrow forever, etc... are all potential unforced errors for which risk preparation is difficult to impossible.

If DOGE cuts the govt contracts csco is done and $8 a share is in view. That's what she's saying. Think about that when the elt shoves a $150k checkbox down your throat or insists you use some overseas special ed case, but then in the US lays off the average American citizen. csco is a foreign led company behind the curtain, that much is being made clear. It is also an income stream and brainwashing facility to help spread the disease of liberalism.

@2sbw+1vVsiGXj - you act as if there is one thing to do any it's just a matter of when. Every business should always be tracking risks and identifying possible mitigations and be able to make changes on the fly. With the world on a "just in time" supply chain model catastrophic failure regardless of planning is always a possibility. Trump is just one of many wildcards on the world stage.

put the politics aside and you'll see this is just a risk assessment.

'wait and see' might be a reasonable approach, but 'wait and start prepparing' would be better.
timing is everything - if we move too fast, betting that certain bills will get passed, we'll end up losing millions if that doesn't happen. on the other hand, if we move too slow, we risk being unprepared for the changing market and falling behind those who are adapting more quickly.

She is part of the ELT, so your expectations are incorrect. Fix them and her word salad will make sense to you. Do you think they have a strategy?

he and others in the Admin are quite clear on what they want.

We went through this last time. I'll save the tome on everything he said he'd do and didn't. We don't know what tariffs will actually be enacted, and we don't know what his constant attacks on our allies will do both to the US economy and stability but the global economy and stability.

She means we have to see if Trump was lying about all of it (like last time) or just most of it.

There's very little about Trump's policies that are 'wait and see'...he and others in the Admin are quite clear on what they want. That said, I imagine she means that Cisco won't take action until policy changes are actually active, rather than simply being advertised/predicted.

Or in other words....Fran is still in denial about the election results and is waiting as long as possible before reacting to policy change.

Her focus should be Cisco people and communities. The company is in a death spiral. You rarely hear the name Cisco in any meaningful way in business and technology these days. Someone softly tell her the internal babble she gets away with does not translate well on main street.

What's the fuss? Cisco's chief policy and purpose officer said (and I quote):
"You know, I think it's really natural that there's going to be an element from a policy perspective that is wait and see."
The way I read it is that we need to wait and see (to adjust our policies accordingly), because, naturally, we don't know yet what the new admintration will do.

What do you mean who is she? She’s a top level executive. If someone is speaking to Bloomberg to represent us of course it should be at the executive level.

If you disagree with her statements. fine. Be an adult and discuss the points you disagree with like someone with the brain capacity to argue a point intelligently. But quit the soft misogyny.
As a high level executive, she has every right to be speaking for Cisco in a national news setting.

I certainly wouldn’t want it to be you. You can’t even contribute to having a decent discussion on an anonymous website about layoffs.

I "waited" for the best health insurance covering everyone for everything for nearly free then "saw" myself paying the price of a new car every year for an individual health plan during his first term. The good news is his proposed a 2000% tariff on cars might raise the price on the cheapest cars above my health insurance costs. Thanks to AI my healthcare claims are randomly rejected. She seems spot on.

Trump has a mandate? Not sure about that one. Let’s see what tariffs and trade wars (if reality) do to supply chains and costs of goods. Immigration policy will also have an impact on many elements of the economy. The world is flat.. so unilateral U.S. policy will impact global economies - and global companies - in ways nobody knows and nobody even knows if Trump will actually do the things he says. I do agree - Fran in her position is not really the authority but I don’t think anyone really knows.
