Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Nissan's "colossal misstep in reading the room, specifically, skipping over hybrids while doubling down on EVs." Reminds you of GM's poor bet.

GM made the same mistake thanks to their poor leadership led by the evil Mary Barra who is laser focused on enriching herself and her elite with that sweet salary/bonus of $6+ millions and millions $$$ in stock options on your expense by selling you fake dreams while she laughs all the way to the bank.

At Nissan, "Things aren’t exactly rosy at Nissan right now. The company is in such dire straits that even with 9,000 jobs slashed, a portion of its Mitsubishi stake sold off, and its CEO taking a pay cut, whispers from the inside suggest Nissan might have just 12 to 14 months to turn things around. And the root of the problem? A colossal misstep in reading the room—specifically, skipping over hybrids while doubling down on EVs."

Nissan in talks with Honda to merge.

This is a Japanese equivalent of a General Motors, and Honda will know how to properly curate and amplify the Nissan product portfolio, while also leveraging newly aquired IP. If you've ever had experience with Honda, you know that they are very smart and very competitive.

How are the homeless going to charge their Hummer EVs? EV chargers are a human right!
We've got this people. Just be bold and assume goodness!

"EVs charge at home."

Clearly written by a spoiled rich boy with a house.

Those of us who live in apartments don't have garages.

I park in an open parking lot with no electrical outlet.

If had an EV, I'd have to use public chargers.

"EVs charge at home. Every night."

Most people spend very little thought about the energy their car consumes because they fill up once a week. Having to keep their car on a charger every day is a huge hassle. If you disagree, great. But most agree with this sentiment.

"You only need to charge away from home if you're on a road trip."

Then what? Where do we charge? Unknown. Will a charger be open or a line that lasts hours? Unknown. Will there be any working chargers? Unknown. Is the charger on the map a private business with no access? Unknown. How long will it take to charge? Is it a safe neighborhood? How many hours does this add to the trip?
All of this, vs maybe one 3 minute fill-up cross-country. For most people, this is a deal-breaker, no matter what the green sock-puppet propagandists say.

People posting misinformation about EVs aren't helping anybody, especially not the companies they might convince to follow them off the cliff.

EVs charge at home. Every night. You only need to charge away from home if you're on a road trip. Overall, you spend a lot less time filling up, even with the longer times on road trips.

The main problem people have with EVs these days is lack of charging stations (especially ones not broken, or incompatible with my car) and the amount of time it takes to fill up the battery.

There are gas stations on every block, and I can fill my tank in 5 or 10 minutes.

Make the EV experience the same.

People don't dislike EVs "just because." They have valid reasons about the experience.

There's a single reason that DEI and ESG fails epically:
THE VOICE OF THE CUSTOMER.
Ham-fisted changes to existing, successful products and services based on some kind of ideology will always fail. In some cases, the failures are epic: Target, Disney, Budweiser.

63% say they do not plan to buy an electric vehicle based on the latest Pew Research Poll.*

This isn't secret knowledge and it was accessible with a quick internet search.
"If we build it, they will buy it" is a failed mentality, over and over again. There are business studies on this and guess what? General Motors is featured in several of them!
New GM, meet Old GM.

People might think they are clever by arguing against this idea but those people will only see failure. You don't build products that no one wants. And before you bring up Tesla, they make up a tiny fraction of car sales in America, only selling 150k cars in America this year.** The vast majority of cars sold in America are ICE.

Here's the final point. American's attitudes toward EVs are not changing. People aren't adapting or warming up to the idea. Please go back to that Pew article above as a source.
In fact, American's views on EVs are GROWING WORSE!
So, what does the woke establishment do?
More brainwashing is needed. In this article ***, NPR discusses frustration about Americans views and how they might re-educate them! This kind of dismissive, arrogant mentality is why orange guy was brought back in. People are sick of this arrogance.
