Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Wood River bought old “crude” from Valero that is half water?

Yeah, you read that right.

The geniuses at WRR bought the “crude” from Valero from out of one of Valero’s old crude storage tanks. Turns out it is an emulsion with about 50% water. Rumor mill says that whatever contract WRR signed with Valero has the fine print clause of “Sorry. No refunds! No exchanges. All sales are final!”

Now the braintrust at WRR is planning on feeding that “crude/water mix” to their distillation unit #4 on Tuesday December 10th. I guess they’ll get to see if they can once again blow the trays out of their atmospheric column.

But hey, the market is real soft right now, so who cares if they blow up the smallest of the 3 crude distillation units at WRR?

As just a spectator, I have never seen a company like P66 so willing to step over a dollar to pick up a dime!

Wish them luck that on next Tuesday nobody gets hurt.

a real problem is when that unit has to run at a charge rate 10,000 barrels to say 15,000 barrels less per day because the crude is so cr-ppy. not to mention the risk of flipping a desalter, and then tripping a heater. naturally, there is always the risk of blowing up a heater when trying to relight it. but hey, you do you. what do you care? you won’t be the guy or gal out there at 2AM trying to relight it. you sound like one of those koolaide drinkers who is gone by 4PM each day.

Easy playbook to be a malcontent. Make a fuss and then call people shills when your story doesn’t pan out because you made a big deal out of something without knowing the full story.

The company has real problems that need to be addressed. Stop distracting from the real problems by making up problems from rumors

Sometimes when coke drums start cracking, it never stops. It’s possible that the other 2 drums will also develop cracks at some point in time.
I hope not.

oh look everbody, the company shills have shown up. circle the wagons all you want, but nobody wants to own up to their mistakes and do the needful.

maybe coker north’ll figure out if they are gonna be a 2 drum or 3 drum or a 4 drum coker. paid $3.5 billion for 4 coke drums. 12 years later 2 of em decide to start cracking and spraying pitch everywhere.

Sounds like nothing happened because OP heard half a rumor that wasn’t true and didn’t understand the reality of the full story.

Live and learn and move on.
